I wish I had video of this time I was in a very small rural eastern Oregon town (population 440), in the town's only bar and grill. My friends and I were on a hunting trip in the area and decided to eat dinner at the bar. There were these 3 locals - two women and a man - sitting at the bar, and they started chippin at each other. The bartender, a tough lookin woman about 50 years old, told them all to shut the hell up. Well, they did ... for a minute. The bartender told 'em a second time. A minute later, one of the women threatened to kick the other woman's butt, and the guy also threw in some sort of insult or threat.

    CRRRACK!

Holy crap! I thought someone just got shot.

No one got shot. That tough ol' bartender lady had taken out a Louisville slugger and smacked it against the top of that ol' wooden bar, and now she was circling around that bar with that slugger cocked up above her head.

Those three troublemakers got their butts off their bar stools real quick like, and that ol' bartender lady backed them all right out the front door. Then she walked back behind the bar, put the slugger back, and went about her business like nothing had happened.

    Order restored.

Moral of the story: It's not the customers' bar. It's her bar.

Happened right here, by the way, where that solid green door is ...

I have never had bangers and mash in NJ.

However, a true Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a hard roll can only be found in NJ. And if for nothing else, I will return there once a year...…

Good point. And Haagen-Das is probably the only reason to return to the Bronx - unless you are a Yankees fan.

Gee I dunno,I wonder what *Jon Taffer would say about that.
There is a point where a regular customer should feel like
the bar belongs to them.I mean, they're payin' the freight.
I remember back in Cleveland a bar in the hippie section
where it was always packed on the weekends. And there was this
customer { Older gentleman } who had a spot reserved at the bar.
He also brought his own Beer mug.I remember it was a nice thick
plastic Budweiser mug.And once he acted like a bouncer demaning
that a patron be escorted { dint use that word } Out.And the barkeep
{ usually a couple ex-rugby players } gladly did what the regular customer
asked for.I remember how that left an impression on me.I dint like it.
Over the years I noticed a lot of that. How Barkeep play favorites almost
to the point of Barring { Banning a person from coming into the Bar }.
Someone getting Barred from a Bar .. the word gets around.
    I never abided that " Barring " bidness.I thought it Sissified !
I tink Charles Bukowski would agree.

Then all righty then. *Sitting at the farthest table. Fat oily burgers are on me! Celebrating today.*

And thank you! Trying to use logic and arguments against Europeos und Australeos when they're a whole bunch of a gang around he', not a very light job. Sure I did get a few adversaries but it always beats good deeds!

Welcome, dear. Only 1 rule... no politics (see post #1). This is a place to escape and argue about stuff like whether moonshine is a legitimate booze or not ; if clear ice cubes are better than cloudy ones... important topics like that. :alcoholic:

Sure, im game. Do they have water inside, or just cold cubes of metal?

(No doubt breaks the ice eating habit pretty quick)

    Just metals, good madam.

Metal has very high thermal conductivity and that is why metal stays colder than air, typically. Metal easily absorbs coldness from other colder objects. When ye touch a piece of metal that is colder than ye own hand - your fingers swiftly lose heat and feel cold - and the opposite happens when you touch metal that is hotter than your hand. Thermal insulators like plastic and wood can't transfer heat as easily. Not even near. And of course if you go and place your metal cubes out in the open in the Outback, ya gonna have some boiling whiskeys on ya hands!

And don't forget, could be used as a weapon too! (...When in a gunfight and ya ammo is no more.)

Very interesting. You could paint little dots on em and use for dice... to see who buys the next round.

Ahhh, I have not seen Frusen Glädjé in years, thought they had stopped making it. Was one of my favorites and then it was gone, the store stopped selling it.

Be careful with that dry ice, you can get a nasty burn.
