How so What kind of And do you support Trump's Get Tough With Policies? And shouldn't we be tougher with them? Moi
Not sure how to answer your first two questions. Do you mean am I an American by birth or naturalization? I can't even guess as to what kind of American. I support Trump renegotiating trade deals with all nations that we have unfair arrangements with. Not sure if that means getting tough with Canada, just being fair to each other.
There are no "Typical" conservatives anymore...that was my point. We have Reagan conservatives (Myself) who are now liberals according to Trumpist "Conservatives" and RINO conservatives who are pretty much everyone else to the newest Trump inspired conservatives.
How would the Democratic Party count you? White? other, specify Male? If no and not female, specify Straight? other, specify And what is the geographical origin of your uploads?
I voted for Democrats in the past, but since they have seemed to abandon common sense about 10 years ago I haven't since. White, straight, male. Not sure why that matters, are you looking for a partner? Currently Utah. Moving to Japan for a federal job next week for 2 years.
What has Trump done that Reagan wouldn't have, besides not being PC? I agree with almost everything Trump has done so far, so I guess you could say I'm a Trump conservative.
I was expecting welcome messages, not to be grilled. But it's ok, seems like a lively message board community here.
I suppose if we ignore the personality flaws, disdain for law enforcement and Judiciary, dismissal of moral historical standards, fiscal irresponsibility, extreme nihilism and many other things then he and Reagan are almost twins..
Conservatives arent very supportive of eachother here. You won't get a lot of likes or positive quotations, even though 2/3 of the people are likely agreeing with you (we're a majority here if most of the polls are accurate). It is quite lively tho. The TDS is in full effect. Welcome
Will you keep posting from Japan? If not then it isn't worth sign up to PF if you're not gonna post until come back? We'll all have forgotten who you are!
From what I've heard, Japan does have internet. I probably will post, as long as the new job doesn't take too much of my time.
The people who support Trump definitely go against any historical definition of conservative. They are not conservative in nature, but agitating for change. They are progressives in their own right, even if others might look at the changes they seek as being rather regressive in nature.
We've got two tribes, and many conservatives have been forced into the "leftist" tribe by Trump "conservatives" (who tend to be rather right-wing radicals of a sort, because they follow their leader where ever he takes them).
How so? Trump's actions have been in line with conservatives pretty much. Lower taxes, enforce immigration rules/stronger borders, conservative judges appointed to courts, strong foreign policies/anti-globalism, supports 2nd amendment, etc.
I would look at lower government spending and reducing the deficit as conservative before lower tax rates. In fact, lower tax rates without corresponding spending reductions is anything but conservative. Trump's trade wars are not conservative in nature, either. In fact, they are government intervention in the free market, and a very disruptive way of going about it. In fact, this and the irresponsible tax + spending policies of this administration may yet prove to be a very disruptive one-two punch to our economy and the global economy.
Your first point I can agree. The second one is more complicated. It involves other nations taking advantage of the US. Standing up for the US to make trade fair may or may not be considered conservative - but whatever category it's in I support it 100%, even if it involves some short term suffering on our part. In the long run I think it will benefit us instead of continuing the massive trade deficits we've experienced.
Oh, Trump isn't going to make any appreciable difference to our trade deficit, nor is it the horrible thing he wants to make it out to be. In fact, we're supposed to look at the present economy as wonderful. Well, Trump hasn't made any differences that could change the fundamentals of our economy so far. He can't enact tariffs and instantly change our economic fundamentals. We aren't suddenly employing a bunch more people in manufacturing jobs because of Trump, for instance. It's all a numbers game. The GDP I see touted includes government spending, the very thing that is generating our record deficit and debt. Beyond this, it is not conservative to place the United States next to Russia and draw moral equivalence. It is not conservative to attack our law enforcement, our national intelligence agencies, our judiciary ("so-called judge"?), nor to embrace positions that favor a hostile foreign power. It is far from any conservative values I'm aware of to spew lies constantly and, oh yeah, attack the free press as "the enemy of the people," something authoritarian dirtbags do when faced with such criticism. It is not conservative to be a pretend Christian (OK, maybe it actually is) or to tout family values when you're on your third wife and have a closet full of the skeletons of past illicit affairs.
The economy is booming, and that started right after election results. Just the speculation of tax cuts and cutting red tape kick started it. Where I live construction is booming and job openings are plentiful in just about any field. Tariffs have not had much effect, positive or negative, yet from what I've seen. The FBI used a fake dossier purchased by Democrats to open a still on-going investigation that hasn't yet provided any evidence of collusion about a year and a half later. They deserve criticism for that. His biggest mistake so far was stating that he has no reason to believe Russia attempted to interfere with our election (during the Putin joint new conference), which he weaseled out of the next day after the backlash began. Agree Trump should have never said the press was the enemy of the people, but they too deserve criticism for the terribly lopsided coverage. Anyone should be able to look at CNN and others and see how unfair their reporting has been. Nobody voted for Trump because they thought he was a choir boy or even because they thought he was a nice guy.
