I ran across this forum in searching for a political forum, and it seems I set up an account here in 2013 but never posted. I expect to be posting regularly. I think of myself as pragmatic.
I do not recall. I was surprised to see that I has set up an account already. Either I did it on a whim, or I got distracted and forgot about it.
How "pragmatic" are you about ? Pragmatic enough to support the Dual Wall Solution? Welcome pending. Moi
welcome! prag·ma·tist [ˈpraɡmədəst] NOUN a person who is guided more by practical considerations than by ideals. philosophy an advocate of the approach that evaluates theories or beliefs in terms of the success of their practical application. Whats a good example of your pragmatism applied to politics?
I am a fan of some pragmatists in politics. They can get things done that the more esoteric or ideologically driven brethren cannot.
Actually Hitler and Stalin were idealists. They both set out to make the world a better place, according to their lights. The people I most fear are those who want to make the world a better place. Make your family a better family, your neighborhood a better neighborhood. If everybody did this the world would just become a better place without direct intervention.
I have yet to meet any person guided by principles on this forum who did not end up a hypocrite, no matter what their principles. For that reason I eschew principles and am guided by prejudices, which are what all those idealists are really guided by anyway, but won't admit it, even to themselves.
