Does this help. Almost $6.9 M • How will we get the funds to the right place? We have contacted the Trump Administration to secure a point of contact where all the funds will go upon completion. When we get this information secured we will update. We have many very high level contacts already helping. • Republican Representative Steven Palazzo of Mississippi is introducing legislation to direct the Treasury Department to issue government savings bonds which would allow us to fund the wall with this method. This is just one option, there are others on the table being discussed. • 100% of your donations will go to the Trump Wall. • We are working with a law firm on a legal document that will bind the government to using the funds for the border wall itself, nothing else. • We will hold all funds and not release a single penny until we have all legal aspects covered to ensure our money goes only to the wall. • If we don’t reach our goal or come significantly close we will refund every single penny. We are working on a time frame to achieve. LET'S GET THIS WALL BUILT! And make America Safe Again! Nope. Whoever supports it feel free to send in the money. I just don't see it happening considering that the law is fairly clear on donation to the Treasury.
I neither support nor criticize the construction of the wall. It doesn't concern me. I only responded to what I believe will be done.
That is according to the Migration Study and the other link. Two-thirds of the world’s people live in countries that protect their borders with a wall or fence. Governments build these barriers because they are an effective way to keep people out.....snip~ https://www.amren.com/features/2018/02/border-walls-work/ Did you read the link where they Start with the Berlin Wall. The Israel Egypt Barrier. The Israeli West Bank Barrier. Widespread Use of Barriers Border barriers are the international norm. Only 25 percent of the world’s population live in countries that do not have a border fence or wall—something far more substantial and lengthy than a fence at a border check point. Ten percent of the world’s population live on islands with no land borders. Fully 65 percent live behind barriers. Nations with confirmed border barriers (shown in red). Only Western nations are condemned for building barriers, even though other regions are more likely to have them. As the graph below shows, East Asians, North Africans, South Asians, Middle Easterners, and Central Asians are all more likely than Europeans or the inhabitants of other majority-white countries to live behind barriers. https://www.amren.com/features/2018/02/border-walls-work/
As long as he was tough on border security and built the wall (as well as everything that goes with it), I wouldn't care that taxpayer money was used. The more we put into security, the less we pay out to people coming here. $25 billion is a drop in the bucket. We are sending $10 billion off to Mexico and off to Central America. I would rather we use that money here. Partially for border security and partially for other thing we want to see done.
The only place it can go, is to the US Treasury, nowhere else. Once the money is donated, the Treasury will use to reduce the debt as required by law. A promise he can't keep. More money to lawyers who won't be able to hold the government to such. Tax implications on him and his family on this money. Not after the IRS fleece him 40-50% of this money for taxes.
Reminds me of how Obama lied back in 2008 about his HC plan not having an individual mandate because it would make things worse for the uninsured but then he turned around a rammed the mandate down everyone's throats anyway.
Fair enough. What did Trump mean, then, when he got everyone responding back to him that it would be Mexico paying for the wall? What did everything think he meant?
Okay. So no problem if Obama promised that something would NOT be paid for by tax dollars - and then used tax dollars?
You could be right on all of it. If the people raise the money after our politicians refuse to protect our borders, first I want those politicians to stand up and own it, then I want them to explain if it was about the money, why won’t you use our donation. As far as is it legal, Congress could make it so. My donation is worth making the point. I don’t care if I get it back.
Like how Obama said he wouldn't fund ObamaCare by imposing an individual mandate tax on people because it would only make things worse for the uninsured but turned around and forced people to pay an individual mandate tax to fund ObamaCare anyway? Did we see Lefties mount a legal campaign against the mandate? No we didn't - the Left fought to uphold it.
I can only speak for myself, but I figure it will largely be funded with additional revenue from revamped trade deals. But again, I didn’t believe Obama when he said we’d see a $2500 drop in premiums either. People say stuff to get elected. At least Trump did revamp trade that is better for the US so he is trying.
Your graph says that everyone in the US is already protected by a border barrier. Ironically it says that Mexico and Canada are not. And I guess it does count the Great Wall of China which is a tourist attraction. Sorry, that is pretty suspect.
Depends what it is. I am all about policy and getting things done. There were many policies and things Obama did that I hated. ACA being one of them then his Individual Mandate Tax to pay for his ACA and lying about it. Iran deal was another. If Obama had funded border security to the tune of $25 Billion and got it accomplished, I would be all on board with it. It's not about party. It's about policy. It's not about the man, it's about what he does.
Okay, but what do you think his base thought he meant? Do you think that all those thousands at rallies read between the lines and didn't think he actually meant mexico would pay for the wall directly?
Not so. The tariffs are starting to hurt some businesses, most notably the construction industry due to increase in steel cost. That combine with interest rate hike, and you have a making of slowing in down in construction which eventually will have an impact on other sectors.
I guess that's comparable on its face. But the difference is that Mexico's leadership refused Trump the funding and American politicians refused Obama the ACA he promised.
Wind towers are built in the ocean several miles offshore so building a wall in the middle of a narrow river (if that is where the border is) hardly seems like a technical challenge. Prior to the dark ages the Romans were pouring underwater concrete.
It didn't cost us a trillion though, like Obama's lost promise=) It didn't cost much except for the little that has been built. Trump can't sign his own bills. He needs permission and if congress didn't have the balls to do it, what else could he do? They're all cowards. Every single death caused by an illegal is on them. Every accident. Every kid on drugs brought in by illegal mules. Every woman raped. Its ALL on those who apposed it. When our country is bilingual and resembles Mexico more than the US we used to be, then those who voted against it are responsible. When drug lords control our politicians like they do in Mexico, its on them. When terrorists walk right through and we can't stop them, its on them. They just need to own it.
I have no idea what other people thought. I just know what and those I have seen or heard comment on it thought. Not one expected a check from Mexico.
