So... when Bill Clinton fired FBI director William Sessions, it would have been perfectly correct for the FBI to open an investigation on the President and investigate him...just in case Russia or China were involved?

Nothing amiss in opening up an investigation of Trump. There's too much smoke we know about not to look into it.
We shall see. Trump is a crook, but he may not be a traitor.

Trump is a crook (Trump University), there are dozens of contacts by his minions with Russians, and you think we shouldn't investigate? Feh.
Au contraire. Investigating Trump is a good idea.
You assume Trump is pure as the driven snow. I don't.

No, Mueller was just hand picked by those who did.

Yeah, that's why you won't see a leftist response to this.

Trump may be the only person in this investigation to not get paid by Putin.

We know the Clintons took money from Putin and Alphabank. We know Mueller worked with Deripaska and asked him to fund FBI operations.

But sure, you keep that imagination working overtime.

Wait, so Progressives are saying that it is bad for Trump that there was an investigation into something that turned out to not be true?

    I am confused ....

How does this not scream "They wanted to try him for treason and they couldn't find squat"

The way people try to spin news now days is a hoot.

I know. They are probably really sad to see the constant assaults on the duly elected President of the United States of America. They're probably thinking, Darn, now they're divided and at war with themselves.

    Propaganda Alert!

There was a lot more involved than a dossier.
So why no charges in the last two years?

    Universally praised where?

For the Whitey Bulger era? For 9/11 happening on his watch? For jailing innocent people over the anthrax case? Putting Martha Stewart in jail?

What is it about his past that was deserving of praise?

No. The rule of engagement have always allowed the commanders on the ground to defend themselves. There have never been rules saying if a force of armored vehicles is approachign them that our people could not kill them.

After the fall of the USSR, Russia was briefly not an adversary, then Putin gained power. Now Russia routinely challenges the USA, threatens allies and is bragging about new weapons programs designed for fighting us. Russian propaganda has been whipping up antagonism against the USA for years, as did the USSR before then. Russian spying, including attempts to interfere in not only American but in the elections of other nations, is a massive espionage operation. Russian military aircraft and ships are doing provacative flights, including games of chicken and close overflights of American naval ships.

Those are the behaviors of an enemy not ready to start a fight, but willing to push.

No. Evidence and indications are required. Trump has been trying to make headway in Russia for thirty years. He was extremely friendly to the Russian enemy and publicly urged their help in his Presidential campaign. Trump publicly stated he fired Comey because of Russia, his later and constantly shifting lies are all recorded. Had Clinton done such a thing, or any other candidate, the FBI would have been justified in being worried about his loyalties and opening an investigation.

Comey should have been fired a couple of times by Obama for his handling of Clinton. That is on Obama's head, deservedly.

Trump should have fired Comey for the same reason the first minute he sat in the Oval Office. If he had done so, I'd praise that action. Instead Trump tried to get Comey to toe the line Trump wanted, obstructing justice in the doing of it. Praising Russia in the doing of it.

Trump is compromised. If not as a result of Russian action that he knowingly agreed with and embraced (I doubt he comprehended it) then because he got played.

Those are the two possibilities remaining. Either Trump knew what he was doing in favoring our Russian enemy or he was made a fool of. Either is cause enough to want him gone.

Which means I have been ready for President Pence for some time now.

Back when this conspiracy theory first started, I was wondering how long the hysteria could last. Even the Salem witch hunts burnt out eventually but this nonsense is still going strong. This period of time is really going to make the history books.

And... what was the finding? Is he or isn't he a Russian spy? or are they going to keep looking until something comes up 10 years later...

As of the end of November 2018 the list of those charged was 37 names long. This has been a fast (by DoJ standards) investigation with a lot of convictions already. Even so, it remains one of the best we have seen at maintaining secrecy until the end. We know that some of the people on this list are cooperating with investigators. We know there are unnamed persons and charges under seal.

Convictions and guilty pleas mean this is not a conspiracy theory, it means crimes happened and Mujeller's team has already enjoyed much success in identifying who did what,

The list of people charged either directly by Mueller or in cases Mueller referred to the DoJ in DC or to the US Attorney for the Southern District of NY.

    1) George Papadopoulos, arrested 2017. Plead guilty to making false statements to the FBI.

    2) Paul Manafort, indicted on 25 different count. Convicted on eight counts. Struck a plea deal with Mueller, but now faces charges of breaching that agreement by new lies to investigators.

    3) Rick Gates, indicted on similar charges to Manafort. Agreed to a plea deal and plead guilty to two.

    4) Michael Flynn, plead guilty to making false statements to the FBI.

5-20) 13 Russian nationals and three Russian companies indicted on conspiracy charges, with some also being accused of identity theft.

    21) Richard Pinedo, plead guilty to one charge in connection with the Russian indictments.

    22) Alex van der Zwaan, pleaded guilty to making false statements to the FBI.

    23) Konstantin Kilimnik, charged with attempting to obstruct justice by tampering with witnesses in Manafort’s pending case this year.

24-35) 12 Russian GRU officers: These officers of Russia’s military intelligence service were charged with crimes related to the hacking and leaking of leading Democrats’ emails in 2016.

    36) Michael Cohen, plead guilty to 8 counts of tax and bank charges and campaign finance violations. Now in a plea deal with Mueller for lying to Congress.

    37) Sam Patten, plead guilty to not registering as a foreign agent.

Asked him to fund the rescue of a captured CIA officer who had been an FBI agent. Do you have something against rescuing Americans who are being held in foreign countries? You probably do.

Actually, Trump has implied that Russian intelligence is more trustworthy than our own intelligence. So you're wrong again.

Explosive implications? Result? They found nothing. The IG report on the FBI was scathing. All the players that started it were fired for wrongdoing or had to leave. The NYT won’t tell you that because it would counter the Trump hating narrative.

    Translation: Nothingburger.
