Link for what? The speech is scheduled more than two weeks out.

He never said 2.7. Those were numbers that were reported as being offered by Pence. And then Trump clarified that he wanted nothing less than 5.7.

And since illegal immigration is at one of the lowest points in 20 years, there is no crisis or a justification for shutting down the government over 250 miles of steel slats.

This is NOW and the SS says there is no problem with providing the required protection. Pelosi didn't even ask them about it before she put her foot in her mouth. The Houer insulted all these professional SS agents saying they are too upset over the shutdown to be able to provide adequate security. How absurd.

In their negotiations they offered to go that low. The Democrats refuses to negotiated and compromise.

We've got 2000 march towards our border now. There is no justification for the Democrats to shut down the government for purely partisan political reasons over a paltry $3.4B difference.

He got the funding for the wall projects and demonstrations now it's time to build them. The Democrats supported them then now they prefer to shut down the government over it.

You and I both know that distinction is absolute horse ****. Trump shut down the government over 250 miles of steel slats. And he did so after previously agreeing to fund the government solely and specifically because he was getting roasted by conservative media.

Eh... you're right... too early for anybody to announce a boycott yet.... and with this Pelosi letter, it's possible boycotts won't be an issue this year.....

Hmm... I wonder if that's a side benefit of Nancy's letter.... Dems might not have to officially boycott the event this year... I believe the final number was 12 last year, mostly due to shithole countries (Has it been an entire year already? Time flies)

Why would President Trump now want to make this a campaign rally? Pelosi is taunting him, I hope he rubs her nose in it. I hope Trump sends Congress an e-mail version of the State of the Union, and turns the actual speech into a rally. Your head still not spinning around?

It is Trump's shutdown. He owned it explicitly, he has refused any plan which opens the government unless it also funds his wall right now, and the American people agree.

Trump could not get Mexico to pay for the wall and so he is demanding that the American taxpayer pay twice as much.

The State of the Union is not a campaign event. You can't just turn it into a rally.

She's not even citing her letter any more claiming some unknown furloughed Homeland Security employee here told her there was a concern.
The Secret Service and head of Homeland Security say there is not problem that security will be in full force for it if Pelosi retracts her uninvite and allows it to happen. Give it up.

And making 800,000+ people work for free or to not work at all is really accomplishing that goal.

    LOL...
Maybe you can point to a piece of intelligently written commentary penned by trump.
I can point to his 5th grade vocabulary, incoherent and rambling talks, and his twitter feed.
Really, why the hell would anyone think trump could write a SOTU address?

Given his low intelligence and complete lack of decorum I don't doubt that he would try.

I haven't read through the entire thread so maybe this has been pointed out, but isn't it ironic that Pelosi is citing security concerns yet refuses to support something in the name of national security. It's almost as if she is only concerned with her own security and not the security of the people of this country. That couldn't be could it?

It is a legal requirement. There are first amendment restrictions on who you can refuse to admit to your event if the event is a government/political event, like the State of the Union.

Trump is trying to do what is best for America (protect our southern border); Democrats are trying to do what they think is best for their party (resist Trump).

Aren't you cute though with your "uneducated white base" snark

The security of our southern border has been an issue for decades. Do you think the Secure Fence Act of 2006 was just a "ploy"? Do you think past bipartisan support for border barriers was a "ploy"? When Obama stood in the Rose Garden and talked about the security crisis at the border, did you think it was a "ploy"? Did you think Operation Phalanx was a "ploy"?

Face it, you are so entrenched in your hatred of Trump that you aren't even able to consider (or discuss) this topic rationally.

Pelosi is the one who tried to play games about where, when, or if the SOTU was held, so if Trump moves it and it becomes more like a campaign rally, she only has herself to blame. She brought a knife to a gun fight, when Trump has bombs.

Actually, she just a few minutes ago said on TV that "the time to talk about it (border security) is when the government is open and.
the people who are here to protect us are getting paid."

They're not upset about the shutdown... they aren't being paid DURING the shutdown and it seems only Speaker Pelosi gives a hoot about that.

Was a, dare I say it, presidential thing to say.

    :salute:
