Shepard Smith [Fox News] takes a rather critical view of Trump on his program that airs at noon on the West Coast. Does that mean that Shepard is not a "real" Republican to Trump supporters but rather a 'Republican in Name Only'? Inquiring minds want to know.

    Smith is a solid Republican.

    Many solid Republicans are never-Trumpers.

Never, ever confuse loyalty to the GOP with loyalty to Trump.

Republican loyalty is quite honestly being tested and has resulted in many [in congress/ sheriff] losing their jobs last November.

Many more (most of the remainder of the Trumpers other than in MW and South) will lose their seats in November next year.

Sheriff McDonnell [LA county] was quite competent; even endorsed by the mayor/ LA Times until it came out that he was once a Republican [now Independent] and lost to a nobody. Collateral damage in the age of Trump.

Aren’t news people/journalists supposed to be critical when appropriate no matter what party they or the person they are criticizing is associated with? In other words, isn’t he doing his job?

Well, from Hannity and Carlson are rump lickers for the Right. That’s no secret. Of course the Left also has their rump lickers too. Both sides are guilty.

Trump has single-handedly destroyed the GOP. You know that Trump has no loyalty to Republicans. Such suckers; such an embarrassment to Americans.

Sheppard Smith is a gay democrat. Hes typically very critical of republicans.

Just cause he works at foxnews doesnt make him a repubican.

Hes actually pretty honest, and usually right.

Good, we need to burn down the GOP and rebuild it.

Burning down the GOP is being accomplished nicely by Republicans. Rebuilding it can wait [a long time].

Nope, as these old RINO's start dying off they will be replaced with a new breed of republicans who will actually stand for conservative principles.

John McCain was the first of many who are about to go.

Yeah and becoming Democrats like several former Republican congressmen in Orange county. Limited insight is a handicap that translate in little credibility and no influence.

Good, we are exposing them for who they are.

Just like we made Jeff Flake retire.

Let's get them all out of there and let them squirm back to their democratic masters.

Not sure if Smith is a solid republican, but he could be. But what does that really mean these days? Is it a republican who along with the democrats insure we get 10s of millions of illegals, for cheap labor for republican businessmen? Is a solid republican the ones who sold out the middle class and working americans, in favor of big banks, big corporations, and the elites that own them, so they could max out their profits, even at the cost of our middle class? Yes, I think so. And trump was elected by independents, a few sanders voters and republicans who are fed up with the treason committed upon average americans by both parties. I think this is the reality, and it allowed me to call the election for trump on this forum, which is now public record, a fact.

Personally I think I have a decent grasp of reality and it allowed me to go against the pundits, MSM and the polling, and call the election for trump. Simply because my perception of reality is so much better than establishment repubs and democrats. And until I discern something different, this will be my position. Some of us are just not affected by partisanship, tribalism, and that is what is a prerequisite for actually perceiving what the big picture of reality is. I am not bragging, but am saddened that what should be obvious, and easily seen, isn't easily seen at all. I feel as if I am surrounded by morons and blooming idiots. Although a few on this forum actually get it, understand what is going on. But you see this on all political forums.

Frankly, with so many people so disconnected from reality, I would not hire any of them to wash my clothes. I might not get my clothes back!! Never give a job to idiots and morons. You need a healthy mind, if you are gonna employ anyone to do anything.

Flake retired and Arizona voted for a lesbian Democrat to replace him. Does that make sense to Republicans?

He retired because he stood no chance of re-election because he flip flopped on almost every single issue he campaigned on.

No that doesn't make sense but what does make sense it that illegal voting can now swing entire state elections, exactly what the liberals were hoping for.

Of-course, when faced with reality, Republicans cling to conspiracies. You are only fooling yourself and will sadly grow more bitter after each election. Just ask Republicans in Orange county.

I live in Arizona so I get to see first hand what goes on in my state.

Flake actually pissed off both the republicans and democrats so politically he was done, neither side would take him.

By the way, McSally also got in along with that lesbian democrat.

So it was still a net gain for us.

We got rid of McCain and Flake and picked up one conservative.

Like I wrote, use the example of Orange county to foresee the future. Arizona is the number one or two destination most Californians move to if they leave here. Writing is on the wall to plainly read.

"Trump owns a shrinking Republican party" https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixgov/2018/06/14/trump-owns-a-shrinking-republican-party/
