    How about providing an answer

So we should take the wall money and use it to round up those over stays and deport them and THEN we can spend more on border security? Pelosi can have a bipartisan agreement tomorrow, ball in her court.

Several republicans have already said they would vote to pass it so I don’t see that happening.

Why would the house vote no on it? If they did, then this would be completely on Democrats

Most likely it would pass both causing trump to veto it and keep the government shutdown or take a loss which would cause further erosion of his base.

Depends on what you mean by border security. If your answer is a “wall” then no.
If it is a comprehensive package including strategic placement, retrofitting, technology and surveillance along with policy changes and enforcement penalties yes.

Is a wall RACIST? If so, then I could reasonably understand why most liberals would oppose a wall.

"The Washington Post fact-checked Trump’s boast in a full-blown analysis, not even a quick drive by hit job"
Apparently The Amazon Washington Post thinks that all the wars, all famines, all earthquakes, all political strife, etc. around the world has been completely solved so they couldn't think of any BIGGER stories than this story!

Latest Wa Po headline: "Water is wet!!"

Are we talking about the same thing?? The Trump proposal today??

Nancy said it won't pass the House and Durbin said it's unlikely even to pass the Senate.

Why would D's vote for this?? Nancy said non-starter...

We must not be talking about the same thing... If Trump veto'ed his own proposal, he'd be a bigger laughingstock than he is now...

Uh...I know he's using the well-being of Americans as the leverage since that's something the left cares more than the right.

I'm saying he's despicable as the potus for doing that. His "legitimate" leverage is dreamer protection, not Americans.

Typical Trumper. He did not say that he will provide legal status for dreamers. He said he will allow them three years.

What the heck is "strategic placement"?

How do we go about deploying this "strategic placement"?

Do we hire "strategic placement" officers to enforce border security?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and speculate that "strategic placement"... is a border wall.

And then he or the Democratic President can handle it. It's a good compromise.

Problem is that Americans blame Trump for this shutdown by a 53-29% margin. Pelosi knows this, and she is just going to refuse every deal until he is forced to take a normal spending bill. But by that time he will show himself to be a weak and ineffective president and anger many for shutting down the government so long. Already, he is offering amnesty for over 1 million illegals for only 5 billion in funding, and shows how badly he is losing, and angering many of his supporters. The Republicans won some big political battles over the Supreme Court over the last few years, now its time for them to get knocked down a peg trying their age-old shutting the government down trick.

"When at an impasse in a negotiation ... single out those who oppose your point of view, humiliate them, make it personal, especially if they hold significant weight with others you need to negotiate with. That way you’re sure to get them to see things your way. Offer your opponents something everyone knows they’re going to get regardless in exchange for something only you want and no one needs— that way if they’re dumb enough to accept the offer, YOU WIN and everyone else loses.” - Donald Trump (The Art Of The Deal)

Absolutely Trump is. and he is wining big time... and the libs like you are reduced to whining that Trump is not batting at .420, just mere .400 Like I said, winners remain winners, losers looking for minor flaws in victories of others remain losers. Keep up the good job.

So you support technology along the border rather than a fence or wall, is that right?

So Trump is willing to compromise. But Democrats aren't. Last year, Trump wanted 25 billion for the wall, and the Dems wanted DACA and several other goodies. No deal. So now Trump is ready to settle for 6 billion and will throw in DACA. And the Dems say no. And this past Christmas the Dems killed the budget in the Senate. So yeah, its theirs. Pelosi should have accepted Trumps offer.

The term is closely related to "We need a Comprehensive Immigration Strategy", gobbledygook designed to sound impressive but which really means nothing.
