The McMurdo ice shelf is over open water. It partially thaws and refreezes on a yearly basis. During our fall before the ice shelf melts, the US Air Force lands aircraft on the on the ice shelf as part of Operation Deep Freeze resupply to the scientific effort.

The ice shelf is not on the land mass. It is on the ocean.

Of course humungous amounts of ice melting will raise ocean water levels, where else do you think the water will go??

    That's perfectly normal.

The Greenland Ice Sheet always undergoes substantial melting during Inter-Glacial Periods, and during the last Inter-Glacial Period it nearly melted in its entirety.

The average global temperatures during Inter-Glacial Periods are typically 7.8°F to 15.3°F warmer than the present 58.4°F.

If average global temperatures increase another 10°F, that would be perfectly normal and within the range of prior Inter-Glacial Periods.

Note that during MIS-5 and MIS-11, not only did the Greenland Ice Sheet melt in its entirety, the Western Antarctic Ice Sheet also melted in its entirety, and the Eastern Antarctic Ice Sheet underwent substantial melting.

    There's nothing unprecedented here.

The increase in fossil fuel use is increasing faster than the increase in renewables worldwide so that 12 year window AOC talks about will be surpassed easily.

Todays MSN news page has a list of the U.S.Cities which are most susceptible to being inundated by rising sea levels on East Coast,West Coast and Gulf of Mexico.

And during the summer never gets below zero on the land mass. In fact the only way much of it disappears is through sublimation. If it snows less than it evaporates the ice pack thins and visa versa.

At the current level of sea rise which has been constant since tide gauges have been used they will have to do the same thing they did from 100 years ago to now. Deal with it.

Well, what we could do is stop using gas, stop burning wood, and get rid of electricity.

Then we only have to worry about the other 84% of carbon emissions coming from every other country on Earth.

I'm sure they'll listen to us when we ask them nicely to stop burning coal.

Will you people ever figure out that "Climate Change" is a hoax meant only to tax the use of energy consumption by the "regular" people - while Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and their cadres of elitist fraudsters live it big with limos and private jets and several huge mansions in places like California and New York while the rest of us would struggle to heat our homes in the winter as the Climate Change solution would be for all of us to "downsize" into smaller, more energy efficient homes.

The science has been debunked several times for using "adjusted" data that has been modified to support the climate change scam. Are you aware that 15 or so years ago, California and Chicago opened "carbon exchanges" that failed miserably because no sensible business would use them. It's a HOAX!

Have you read nothing of the "Yellow Vests" and the Euro wide protests against government taxation and intrusion into people'e lives in the name of "Climate Change - People are mad everywhere these days and Climate change is the reason: The EU had big plans to ban toasters and other high energy kitchen appliances: In 2016 the plan to ban toasters and other kitchen appliances ran into Brexit - in response, the European Union proposed regulations to increase the energy efficiency of small appliances like kettles and toasters, hoping to save 10 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. But this became a cause célèbre for anti-EU UKIP members. One member of the European Parliament said “ A British MEP wants the UK to leave the EU because his toaster repeatedly produces rubbish toast while quoting the MEP as saying: "Don’t you know about these EU toasters? They’ve turned them all down (restricting how much electricity a toater can use) and that’s why you can’t get decent toast. My old toaster seemed to be powered by the Torness nuclear reactor and this EU Toaster is powered by some kind of EU windmill.”

a certain amount is on it's way no matter what we do, the melting today is the result of co2 emissions decades ago...so if we could magically end emissions today the melting will continue for decades irregardless...by delaying action we make it far far worse

Parts of Mass. that I have frequented my whole life have received tidal damage recently in severe storms that never occurred previously in my lifetime.Waves crashing over sea walls destroying them and up over the roofs of two story homes filling them with water and tearing them apart.

The findings now are that the influx of cold water into large ocean patches is having a dramatic effect on the normal ocean currents causing the weather abnormalities we have seen of late like Europe's recent very warm Summers and severe hurricane like storms.

I would certainly think so since they are different thicknesses, in different ocean currents, different latitudes, different climatic zones and probably a dozen other factors.
