Scientists now saying Greeland's Ice Sheet melting 4 times faster.

Climate scientists are now saying Greenland's 1,700,000 Sq Kilometer Ice Sheet which is 10,000 feet thick in many areas is melting FOUR TIMES FASTER than their original projections.The land mass, which the ice sheet covers, is now rising half an inch per year as the ice melts relieving pressure on the land.They say that were the entire ice sheet to melt it would raise sea level by 23 feet, completely over washing many island countries and dramatically changing the land mass of the entire East Coast with much of many states disappearing beneath the ocean.

 

Happened MANY MANY times in the past. As did Ice Ages, and tropical land masses

When melting starts taking place, more dark surfaces are exposed. As more dark surfaces are exposed, the melting rate increases. This particular phenomena is completely independent of global warming.

 

We have a double whammy as the Antartic ice shelf is also melting faster than previously thought.

 

Water is a precious resource. That ice sheet water is probably worth billions of dollars.

 

It becomes salt water once it drains into the ocean.

 

The shelf won't raise water levels since it is on the water. It is also in the most active area for volcanoes. Bet you didn't know one of the few lava lakes is in the Antarctic.

 

The Antarctic is a land mass.

 

That would mean that Ocasio Cortez's prediction that the world would end in 12 years is too optimistic, that that 9 years is more likely....

I wonder what the press was saying when the last ice age ended. Chiseled in rock cave wall somewhere by the scientist-politician Cortezes of the day.
If I remember reading correctly, there was a substantial warming trend just before that ice age hit- but then rapid shift to sub freezing brought on the glaciers eventually covered our eastern seaboard 23 ft deep.

 

So you take shots at Cortez and then immediately make an implied crackpot prophecy.
