BREAKING: VA Governor Ralph Northam Admits He Was in Racist Yearbook Photo, Apologizes

If they were Republicans, the party would be out of business already, but I'm reminded of the resilience of the Democrat Party in that they ran grandma felony in 2016 and won the popular vote by 3 million votes. I'm not sure they could self destruct even if they wanted to.

 

It is fun watching them stumble all over their dicks since Howard Schultz said he might run as an independent. I expect it will be more fun watching that clown car try to out leftie each other over the next year only to see a moderate swoop in and push them aside.

 

Living in NYC. I'm not 100% positive, but I don't think NYC had Jim Crow laws.

I was the first one in the family to leave NYC, moving to Texas in the 1980's.

All the networks are covering it. This was a leading story on Hardball and Rachel Maddow Show. Shields and Brooks talked about it on PBS.

This is good for the Democrats. It's a golden opportunity to purge a racist and demonstrate there's no tolerance for this. Gov. will resign within a couple days.

 

Anytime an idiot talks about "the sins of the father" and how people should be blamed for things that were done eight generations ago, I get upset.

I'm going to break away from the pack on this one and say what this guy did is not racist. He put on make up 35 years ago, so what? Who does it hurt?

Putting on makeup does not imply one race is inferior or superior to another, therefore it can't be racist. Now some people might argue it's insensitive and to that I say 'you mean feelings?' If I agreed with this guy's political views I wouldn't give a rat's ass what he did in 1984. And if anyone out there is willing to forego voting for a guy who's political position aligns with theirs just because he did something 3+ decades ago which hurt absolutely no one, well, you're an idiot.

With all that said, I don't make the rules of political correctness, the left does, and the left sure has ruined a lot of people because of those rules. So I fully expect the left to live up to their own standards and hypersensitive and unforgiving feelings and dump this guy.

 

After the Charlottesville riot and the defacing of the mural painted by the black sorority at UVA with a white supremacist slogan,recently, we don't need this in Virginia. I have mixed feelings about the incident with the Governor because people change and I believe that in subsequent decades he forged a good record on race relations. However, I would not have voted for him, or encouraged others to vote for him had I known.

The obvious difference is being a Democrat he admitted and apologised for his past racism. And when Trump and his followers admit theirs we will forgive them as well. Although admittedly there is some difference between being a racist way in the past and currently being a racist.
