Isn't declaring a national emergency the same as declaring martial law?

Well I'm no liberal but Trump is a damned fool. Had he sought funding for security at our Ports of Entry and enforcement of Visas I'd be be saying HELL YES and IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME! But no, he wants to spend all the money on the least of the problems, leaving nothing for the major hitters. All the hard drugs are smuggled via the legal entry points. Most of the illegal aliens came in on Visas, and never left. Yeah we still need more work on the border areas but that has fallen to number three on the list.

Worse, the money Trump would tap comes out of the Dept of Defense budget for infrastructure, drug interdiction and other critical needs. Any money that has been allocated but not yet contracted out. This would harm both our military readiness and our ability to fight the very drug problem Trump claims to be trying to fix.

I don't care if "the Dims" are liberals or anything else, they are opposing this stupid and wasteful fool in the White House.

So I'll take what I can get in restraining Trump, while opposing other things they may wish to do.

 

It is as I said an end run around the Constitution and a direct attempt to subvert the intentions of our founding fathers,and the ONLY WAY it can be ended is by a joint resolution WHICH THEN REQUIRES THE PRESIDENTS SIGNATURE.In other words it gives him SOLE AUTHORITY making him our KING?????And it can be renewed every year.

In reference to the drug problem: In Portugal drugs are legal. They have no drug problem there and no war on people like we have here.

The article says the drugs come from mexico. It did not say how they were smuggled into our country. NAFTA has a lot to do with the smuggling of illegal drugs.It's extremely naive to believe that a wall will stop them. There is just too much money involved.

A wall will force drugs to the points of entry where they are more easily detected. A wall will also stop illegal crossings and eliminate the human trafficking which relies on a porous border. A wall also protects our border patrol agents from having to go out in the middle of the night to apprehend those who have illegally crossed the border.

 

The DEA, Border Patrol and Homeland security say most drugs are coming in at security checkpoints or into airports.
