Under "Natural Law" and the "Law of Nations" neither Spain or Mexico ever established sovereignty over what is California today.

No opinion about California, but the poll leaves much to be desired. According to the "methodology," the bulk of those responding were from either LA or SF (1000 of the 1500). There is no break down of gender, income, political affiliations, or any other relevant factors. The poll source does not offer all of the information such as what questions were asked. From what I can see, the poll limited answer choices, and the wording is quite vague. Some graphs provided with the poll are about how technology (social media, etc.) should or should not play a role in the quality of life in CA. The original intent of the poll may have been quite different from how it's being used as an anti-Democratic statement.

We can assume those polled from the Gay Bay and Silicon Valley are young liberals who are now considering getting out of the shithole known as California.

It's no longer Republicans, Reagan Democrats and independents fleeing California but now even liberals.

New study released today, more U-Haul trucks and trailers leaving California than coming into California today.

I have to agree with that. My mother lives in Yuma, and it's crazy to see huge cattle farms between Yuma and Phoenix. People are complaining about not having enough water. The Colorado River is drying up, and rarely rains there. Why on earth would anyone want to raise cattle in such a hot, dry, and inhospitable place when there are so many part of the country that are perfect for cattle and farming in general? What a world . . .

Like I said, no opinion about California. Couldn't care less about how many Rs and Ds are there.
I'm just saying that making any bold claims based on that poll could easily be contested. As it's being used, it should be in that category of fake news.

What about the poll from a couple of months ago, same findings but not so many liberals polled.

What about it? I haven't seen it, but I'd be happy to look at the methodology of that one as well.

    Natural Law ?

    Maybe God ?

Natural law, in philosophy, a system of right or justice held to be common to all humans and derived from nature rather than from the rules of society, or positive law.

I probably don't get out enough, still trying to deal with the cultural shock.

Maybe, but I think there's a lot of truth behind that poll. If it's not 53% it must surely be at least 30-35%.
You have no idea what it's like for many of the people living there.
Especially if they don't already own their house and have it paid off.
People are struggling with the high cost of housing, and yes there are higher paying jobs, but those jobs mostly don't justify the extremely high price of housing.
And as far as people's teenagers and young adults being able to get entry level minimum wage jobs, that's mostly taken up by illegal aliens (and their children, and many adult immigrants from other countries).
So that's more money you need to earn as a parent if your teenagers aren't able to get jobs.

my response to that legislation: "whomever supports that is anti-humanity and should receive the death penalty" ;)

With the number of natural disasters which have annually beset California in the past ten or more years, one on top of another, it is absolutely amazing that it is still by far and away our most populous state. It's almost as if God is telling people to get out before he sends the real big earthquake people have anticipated for years.

teenagers and young adults aren't filling those jobs, it's no different anywhere else in the western world...immigrants take the jobs no one else will do...

and it's just another fake crisis with 4% unemployed the US is at full employment, 3-4% is considered full employment because there will always be a minimum of 3-4% of any population where people are between jobs...so if there is full employment those illegals are filling positions that would be left unfilled and stall the economy if left unfilled...illegals aren't taking anyone's jobs they're allowing the economy grow...

    Is that really true?
Why are there still some parts of the country where you can see those teenagers doing those jobs? What about wealthy countries in Europe where teenagers and young adults were doing those jobs? (This was in the early 90s before massive waves of immigration and the refugee crisis)

There's all sorts of jobs Americans used to do, but then could no longer keep doing when the wages went down, working conditions deteriorated, and the price of housing in many regions soared.

To deny the Spanish American roots of California is as absurd as denying that Trump is a liar. Being bilingual is a major plus in California but in Miami, Spanish is more widely spoken than in LA Both places are international and view the world in ways Trump abhors. But that's cool b/c Californios abhor Trump. One poster on another thread identified Carmel as the only beautiful town in California. So I consulted photos.

Misión de San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo was built 1797. This was America in 1797.

Yes, but there were never that many Mexican or Spanish people in California.

I covered that in this thread: The Reconquista

There are more illegal aliens just inside a single medium sized city in California today than there were Spanish-speaking people in the entire state, just before California was annexed by the United States in 1848.

it's a generalization immigrants don't live in every part of the country, just like everyone else they have their preferred locations very few will take those jobs...where I live McDonalds here are staffed with phillipino workers, donut shops-east Indians, cleaning services(hotels, general janitorial) overwhelmingly third world workers...farm labor/pickers, let me know when you see a native born person working the long hrs of those backbreaking jobs...
I see it here and I see the same when I visit europe, immigrants take the worst jobs because locals won't...without them essential work will not get done

A logical fallacy. The only reason immigrants are in those jobs is because everyone else who used to do those jobs got priced out and could no longer afford to live there.

That's the same type of mentality that existed before the Civil War.
"If we didn't have slaves, who would pick the cotton?"

Why did people used to be able to make a good living in the construction industry? Why did the wages go down?
What has caused the shortage of housing in many cities and housing prices to go up?
