Nope. Those were caused by the state. Did you know that the states used to forbid banks from branching?

The market wants debit cards, which are pretty much indistinguishable one from another. Go to a store, insert debit card, enter PIN, and leave. That's how the market works.

Wow, so you pose as a free market guy, but...not really.

I need to adjust my assessment of you. Okay. Done.

    Maybe rather a visionary apostle?

And maybe bisexuality? His marriage to a Russian ballerina was mutually agreeable, according to written accounts.

Of course you are merely demonizing Keynes, because his economics argued for a more just and sufficient access to the world's resources - which you apparently perceive as a threat to your own prosperity.

Please describe this "more just and sufficient access".

Are you referring to banknotes? Well, every bank issued their own bank notes. Pretty much like every bank now issues their own debit cards. Are you upset that there are thousands of different currencies now?

I didn't say credit cards. I said debit cards. Every bank, all 11,000 or so of them, issues debit cards to their checking account customers. Does this upset you that there are 11,000 different currencies?

There is not only one. There are approximately 11,000 banks in the US. Every one of them (and don't even talk about credit unions) issues their own currency in the form of their own debit card.

The market is certainly made up of self-interested individuals, driven as much, or more, by instinct than by reason, and therefore requires economic and financial oversight.

[Just as relations between nations require oversight; apparently international travellers are currently trapped at Bangkok airport, because the airspace over Pakistan has been closed........because the "third brain" (see below) of all those uneducated people in South Asia, and their manipulative leaders, is no match for the first two brains, rendering a sensible solution over 'ownership' of some land in Kashmir impossible].

Re those self-interested individuals (ie, all of us), here are some factors directing our psychological motivation:

Brain One Reptilian Brain: Brain stem and cerebellum
Brain Two Limbic system (old Mammalian Brain): Wrapped around brain one, includes amygdala and hippocampus
Brain Three Neocortex (“Thinking” Brain): Outside surface (wrapped around brain two)

Note the "thinking" brain bit (ie conscious reason): it's like the tip of an iceberg.....
    Do you understand?

Longshot is certainly suffering from the delusion that self-interested individuals will automatically cooperate to achieve voluntary agreement and prosperity.

you're always imagining Nazi oversight to solve problems, America was founded because Nazi oversight did not work. Look at the result!

far more likely than Nazi elite monopolists cooperating and knowing what to do without killing 200 million again. Did you ever learn why freedom works and nazi oversight never did?

debit cards are merely allow you to spend dollars out of your savings. If there were 11,000 different currencies and 11000 debit cards (one for each currency) that would be deeply upsetting and cause instant depression. Do you understand?

Results for some in the US (40 million in poverty):

"You are living in poverty, your neighbourhoods are like war zones, your schools and hospitals are broken.. "

    Guess who said that....?

You need to understand the difference between "nazi oversight" and an international rules-based system. Lack of the latter has resulted in as many killed in wars since 1946, as in WW2 itself.
Not to the mention the US backing right-wing military dictatorships, and connivance in the overthrow of democratically elected leaders such as Mosaddegh in Iran and Allende in Chile.

Your concept of 'freedom" requires examination: eg, freedom from entrenched poverty.
