There have been many incidents over the years where Muslims have indiscriminately attacked innocent people of all faiths, colors, nationalities, etc. but have never received a similar response.

This may be the beginning of a Muslims versus everyone scenario and it's surprising European groups haven't done much the same thing in the last 20 years or so, given the amount Europeans have suffered at Muslim hands.

All of this was and is entirely predictable. I'm only surprised it began in New Zealand.

What response? Five million people murdered in the Congo conflict, and most are neither Christians or Muslim. Where is the response to that? No one cares because muslims are not involved.
