Okay, so I was being taken apart by these two aliens, and the soul from my dead clone, killed by another group of aliens, came to visit. And it told me something, about the other side, that made me happy, and the two aliens working on me asked why I was smiling and I told them I was happy, but they said I'm not happy I'm dying. I knew I was dying because I could feel it. I explained about the soul and they said it was a delusion caused by my dying. But I asked the two aliens if I could let the soul reach out to them, and they agreed. So the soul reached out to them and talked to them in their own language. And they were amazed. And they asked if their beliefs about an afterlife were true, but I didn't know their beliefs, and it wasn't like anything like what my Christian beliefs were. Then the aliens studied it. It was real, a physical thing.
To feel better. It gives them hope in times of sadness and pain. Man is not a 100% rational being. He sometimes thinks of Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, witches and fairies and also of God (and the devil).
A delusion is different than a belief in my opinion. If someone believes in angles and devil's, but doesn't claim any direct knowledge of them, they are merely wrong. If they think they see them, they are delusional.
Thats only because you are starting with the assumption of there being a God. There could be an afterlife and no God, there can be a God and no afterlife, there can be both and there can be neither. I don't see particular reasons why they are so tied together.
? And this relates to the OP, how? Belief is not even addressed. We are ASSUMING a premise, and following the implications. A rational, topical reply! So the natural tendency toward delusion, is the explanation for all in the list? How does it 'make them feel better?' Some of the delusions are pretty grim..
Well, if the 'belief/delusion' is an impossible fantasy in a godless universe, it really doesn't matter. And whether they are benign or harmless doesn't change things, either. 'Wrong' or 'deluded'.. both are accurate, if someone believes something that is not real. We can be self deluded, or deceived by others. Either way, we would be wrong. That said.. i do believe in angles. I have used them extensively in my work. but if you can show that they cannot really exist, then it is my delusion, thinking i used angles in my work..
It's a picture of the real world. It has to be authentic somehow. But everything has a happy ending. God's unconditional love permeates everything.
..because positing a mystical, supernatural, unseen, metaphysical dimension opens up a pandora's box, and destroys the assertion of a naturalistic assumption. If there are angels, demons, souls, and powerful spiritual beings, outside of the material universe, how can you exclude 'God' from such a dimension? To us, certainly, any powerful being, able to intervene in the material world, embed morality &/or a conscience, promise heaven, warn of hell, claim creative power.. would not such a Being be 'God' to us? Material only, vs supernatural possibility.. these are the implications of each premise. A godless universe carries with it the ASSUMPTION of materialism.. no supernatural or metaphysical anything.
Exactly. 'How?' can a purely material accident of the cosmos, spawned from some naturalistic primordial ooze.. how could this mud creature 'create!' a soul? In himself? He can't even live in harmony with others of his kind, yet can create new dimensions? I am not ruling anything out, but this conjecture seems pretty implausible.
None of the item in red necessarily depend on a god. You can be spiritual but not religious. Heaven and hell could be concepts related to different realms of existence. Love and spirituality do not depend on a god. Love could still be a real force. As could hate. Perhaps we are merely tapping into some natural mechanism. We do not need a god to have purpose. For example, we might be cogs in a complex universe of cause and effect. The notions of good and evil again might be deeper physical principles that we don't understand. There is a big difference between some church saying something is wrong. and feeling that something is wrong. Angels and devils could be aliens Again, spirituality does not necessarily depend on a god.
So you can't say with any certainty that humans could not create their own souls. It is merely your wish that they could not because it doesn't fit your religious outlook on life.
Faith was never meant to be argued. Just like "unconditional love" never turns it's back. I can easily make logical arguments as to why the New Testament was not designed as a work of fiction by a bunch of independent, mortal authors, but no one outside of faith wants to hear that sort of thing.
Your spirituality is void of Genesis. Religion in reality is man made tradition. True spirituality is a relationship with the Creator of all things.
Thanks for nothing. That's a fact, not an assumption. Sure as Hell wouldn't count on it if I were you, pligrim.
