    Thats liberal fantasy

America would be just as great with or without the slaves

There is no job slaves did that whites couldnt do

    And often did do

Just as there is no job hispanic illegal aliens are doing today that white and black Americans cannot do

Can’t say I feel especially sad about the actions of the south after the civil war given that the left and the black population advocate for government sponsored explicit racism against whites today to make up for it.

And apparently separate but equal is okay as long as the whites are the ones getting the short end of the stick.

I still support reparations, but only under very specific circumstances:

    1. Slave owner descendent must have received the estate of the slave owner. Nothing outside of that estate can be given over.

    2. Slave descendent must have documented history of which of their descendents were enslaved and for how long, and have been reasonably expected to receive an inheritence from the slave ancestor.

    3. Restitution must not exceed the approximate value of the labor of the enslaved person at the time of enslavement.

    4. This must be applied equally without racial preference. Descendents of North African slave owners must also pay descendents of Spanish enslaved people along the terma outlined above, etc.

    5. No racial based policy: ie - all whites pay all blacks.

    6. No tax dollars used for restitution.

    7. No doubling up of reparations. Upon finding of a claim outlined above, the call should be put out to any other descendents. If they do not take action before the case is resolved their share goes to the plaintiff. Otherwise it is split among all descendents equally, or subject to any will of the enslaved party.

This is restitution of a limited and individual character. I think you had something more general and race based in mind, which I would oppose.

I think blacks should get reparations only if they agree to renounce US citizenship and return to africa

Because being born in America more than makes up for slavery that modern blacks never endured

Eh. I think the difficulty is creating a uniform rule of restitution, for when property is stolen.

I agree that they are, today, far better off having been the descendent of slaves than the descendants of random African ****s, but this doesn't really change the fact that they were enslaved against their will. If you have the estate of a slave owner it seems reasonable to me that out of that estate should come restitution. In the same way, if your father takes out a lot of debt just before it dies it should come out of the estate handed down to you. If, however, your father took out a lot of debt and died without giving you a penny, you should have to give up nothing.

no black person alive today was enslaved against their will

Thats just a talking point for black race baiters to cover their hate for white people in general

The left is tearing America apart in its quest for political domination

That is reality. When you have time read, "The Half has Never Been Told" by Edward E. Baptist. I'm sure your local library has it.
This book explains very clearly how slave labor was the foundation of America's wealth in colonial and antebellum times. White labor alone couldn't have accomplished what slave labor did. After Bacon's Rebellion the colonial leaders knew they couldn't depend on White labor, thus they began importing more African slaves.
As for White and Black Americans doing the back breaking, low paid work that illegal immigrants currently do, don't hold your breath. I live in an agricultural area and I haven't seen native born Amerericans do this kind of work in many years. Or any other hard work that illegal immigrants usually do.
So, the illegal immigrants are the new slaves. Even Donald Trump employs them in his resorts. Or he did until he got caught.

Food, clothing and shelter for the slaves in exchange for the great wealth they created for their slavemasters? That was a magnificent investment for those slavemasters, wasn't it?

I disagree. I believe descendants of slaves should be able to get reparations and still remain in America if they so choose.

So how has America managed to survive since the Civil War if slaves are so vital?

Americans are unwilling to do those jobs today because our welfare system allows them to get by without having to work

I think it's an equitable trade off. African nations are reclaimings the lands "stolen" by white colonialists. If your going back to settle up for being abducted and forced into foreign labor, you might as well do it in earnest. Reparationists have claim to the land that's been "returned". There's no reason they should remain in the US given the prospect they might seek damages for mistreatment in the future. Once you've accepted severance pay, you've accepted departure as part of the bargain you've made to get it.

No one has captured illegal aliens and forced them to work in agriculture. They voluntarily come to America and sign on to work in the fields, and they get paid for doing it. They can quit and go back to south of the border anytime they want. I think it would be good to get welfare mothers out in the fields and have them work for their bread. Less time for them to get pregnant with more illegitimate children that the tax payers have to pay for.
As for slaves: yes slavery is abominable. You don't have ask blacks if this true. You can ask the descendants of the Irish slaves in the Caribbean. There are still pockets of impoverished Irish whose
ancestors were the first slaves in the New World. You could also ask the white steel workers who were basically slaves. They worked seven days a week in horrendous conditions and were paid in chits to the company store which marked up the price of items that these workers had to buy thereby leaving nothing left to save or spend of their pay. They could not afford to leave as they had NO money to move with and many of them were indebt to the slave masters of the company. Their children did not go to school but instead worked for 10+ hours a day in textile shops and also worked in glass blowing shops, as newspaper boys, cotton pickers, field hands, miners where they would stay hunched over for 10 hours/day; and were usually disabled by the time they were 18. During feudal times whites were also enslaved in agriculture.

I do wish the true history of work in the western world was known; but they can't tell it because blacks have been given the exclusive right to whine about their past working conditions. There are several books on the history of labor in the US.

Yes, America has managed to survive without "legal" slavery. Because right after the end of Reconstruction, the ex-slaves were exploited with the sharecropping system. This system was enforced with Jim Crow laws, intimidation and lynching.
Also, beginning in the late 19th century, lots of European immigrants came to America. Many of them worked for low wages.
Black Americans were kept on the low end of the employment/wage scale for many years. The Civil Rights laws and affirmative action programs helped them some.

I beg to differ. Since they were bought here against their will in the first place, it should be their decision whether they return to Africa or not.

When can I come over and beat you and force your labor? You are a little shy on your loyalty quota.

I guess you dont know that both whites and black were sharecroppers

It aint a racial thing at all

Jim Crow did exist in most parts of the old Confederacy untill the 1960s

But blacks were free to leave the South

and many did go to Northern states where Jim Crow did not exist

They have a much better life here. That's why no one went back. Back as little as a century ago, people PAID to leave Europe and Russia to come to the US. Look at it as time served for passage.

No black person alive today was brought to America against their will

But plenty of African blacks who not lucky enough to be descended from slaves in America are making great efforts to get here now

Well it certainly curbs their rights to entitlements programs, housing subsidies in particular, but SNAP, Pell grants, and AA quotas too. Reparations means that everyone's standing on equal footing. The cash figures I've heard proposed will make the recipients ineligible for subsidies. Tax payers shouldn't be burdened by recipients financial failures going forward. Reparations are an ill-conceived remedy for a long since eradicated disease.
