Sure - I'll give you that. But sadly, there doesn't seem to be much appetite to be prosecuting or fining those who knowingly hire illegals - from individuals to large companies.

 

Apart from the famine years the Irish survived very well on a diet mainly of potatoes and buttermilk. Apparently that has everything needed for health. At one time there were 8 million of them - that was prior to the great famine. (I think now there are only 4 million - that is Eire) Not that it would fit in with our life now but f you are ever desperate. That being said I agree that cheap food is generally not nutritious and more often than not fattening.
