I was an Income Maintenance Specialist (a Welfare Officer) for a time when I was young and foolish and worked for a living. I know this is anecdotal but I can find stats to back it up The people I dealt with were generally SICK, either recovering from a long illness or chronically so. Some were injured too. The rest were old but Social Security handled most of them unless children were involved. I was only there a few years but in all my time I never ran across even one who was "gaming the system" and believe me, we TRIED. We were pressured to and rewarded if we did, and there were always these *******s who wanted us to even falsify data to bring our numbers up.
It's just not WORTH if to be a welfare cheat. The risk is really high and you can easily make a lot more by working at even minimum wage

I am an atheist myself. Obviously the New Testament indicates that a Christian should help the less fortunate, but I feel certain that he meant directly, as in through direct private charity. I don't think Jesus ever stated that government should be involved in the things depicted in the memes you posted. Just because a Christian dislikes a large central government doling out entitlements doesn't in any way mean that person doesn't want to help. Private charity at a local level is a great thing. Centralized welfare run by a bloated government leads to too much corruption. Keep charity local and voluntary.
