I assume by your comment about electing more imbeciles to dole out more entitlements is a reference to Trump doling out tens of billions to the big agrifarms and a few bucks for the little farmers. Or perhaps the windfalls to big oil, entitling them to mishandle toxic waste, drill in ecologically sensitive wilderness, etc etc. etc.

Entitlements come in various forms. Seems the only ones republicans care about those for the poor and under privileged. The rich recipients are of course righteous.

We have far more high skilled jobs than people to fill them. A skills shortage hurts businesses and productivity and prevents even more high-skilled jobs from being created from that growth. Also, the immigrants who come in add to the population and demand for services which increases jobs proportional to the population increase. Americans kids are often lazy and most don't want to learn the skills that are actually marketable. Immigration of skilled labor bring in people with a strong work ethic and great family values.

Skilled immigration is score based. You give higher score for skills that are impacted by a shortage in manpower.

What, when my grandparents immigrated to this country around 1910 only the males could come as the wives were not deemed to be employable. This was both paternal and maternal sides of my family. My grandfathers lived with a group of other me their age for 5 years before their wives could come and join. I personally grew up in a immigrant neighborhood in the late 50s and 60s and this practice of the man coming first was still in effect. Yes it was tough on them, but their grandchildren all grew up with College ed, and their kids had a much better life.
and this was before we had social services at the cost to society that we do now.

Free immigration folks want to believe that the country is growing at the same rate it was when Lady Liberty was erected. Almost as we had some kind of obligation to take in millions of poor undereducated people into a country that is growing more techinical by the day.

Immigration run rampant is a tool of wall street to depress wages. This is another example of the dem mainstream party abandoning lifelong policies that protect the worker, this and fighting tariffs which were also a pro union pro worker policy. But since Trump wants it it is orange man bad.

The Government should first be concerned with its citizens. That means what is good for them. All other concerns are secondary. As such our immigration policy should first and foremost benefit our country. Feelings have nothing to do with it.
