I want to build a table even though I dont have room for it. I have some one by sixes t&g for the top and some stuff for legs and such. The one by sixes have paint....should I sand it out or put the finish over the paint? Seriously thinking about taking almost all the paint off...it is a kinda eggshell color. Thinking about a farmhouse table.

Your plan sounds good, to me. Our "advisor" would say to leave the paint. I would say that it depends. My vote would be to remove all traces of the original paint, but maybe the wood doesn't have enough character, by itself. In that case, the paint would add character.

Our "advisor" has yet to give me any advice. He still hasn't greeted me either. I guess it's too late for that to happen. I think that he was given strictly honorary positions.

I haven't checked the paint for lead and if any is found the paint will have to go. ....I really like grain in the wood...and it smells good when it is cut.

Yeah, yeah, Im here. Gonna be a strange week. Last few days in old bldg... about half the staff has already moved along with our copiers, scanners and printers. Oh yeah, and the mailroom & fileroom. Not much to do this week but pack few remaining things in my cube... and goof off.

The last item I can handle. I've already found several things in the Carol Wright catalog I cant live without.

The chains have wiped out almost all of them. The tax codes and legal system are not small business friendly.

You should still have 20 minutes left for lunch. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

I do not remember the song, but I am pretty sure this is the wife of the guy who wrote it.

Well...my daughter asked me to make a desk for her...I have the old t&g sanded down to bare wood ...mostly ...and it would make a nice desk and sheff top. I got another plan from Ana White. ...and will have to change the overall length. And her 2x2 is 1/1/2 and I am assuming that her 1x3 is 3/4 by 2/1/2 . That is how it will be cut. Everything will be sanded to show the wood grain....and the fat in the wood. Then.....of course. ...linseed oil.

This song still hits my heart hard and my eyes want to fill with water.

Its never been perfect. But what is?
    Know what I mean?
I think sometimes people look to hard for perfect.
Course selling yourself short would suck too.

Im rambling and over thinking. I better go burn some toast and eat something. Ahahahha

Be careful, that’s a slippery slope! I built this steamer chest for my daughter in law as a wedding gift to store her wedding gown and wedding keepsakes in. I got the plans and hardware from Rockler. I substituted the walnut accents for purple heart as purple was the accent color of her wedding. It came out awesome and it will be around long after I’m gone. But I think that she thinks I just wiggled my nose and poof....furniture. She doesn’t know I have well over 100 hours into it. She isn’t shy about asking me to build her things. Oh well...it’s what dads do.

It's going, about all I can say. I'm off to see family on a long weekend, so it's cramming 5 days of work into 4. I'm thinking alcohol may be involved by week's end.

Here's to far away family, and old friends.... there is a reason I am far away, and I love y'all to death..... :D

Sounds like it could be fun. Takes one to have fun. You're that one. You got this. Start early. lol

The crazy half of my family live near me.
The sane half live down south.

I avoid crazy as much as I can because like the weather things can go really quick from super nice to, 'Ill grab this can of peas and split your head open with it'.
You gotta stay on your toes. lol
