Tax cuts didn't pay for themselves when Reagan cut taxes or when Bush the Younger cut them. They haven't, either, under Trump. Big lie, no surprise.

Correct, but some Democrat poster alleged they should pay for themselves unless it was caused by Obama.

No, the reason for the debt is that politicians on both sides of the isle buy votes by implementing programs without having to pay for them. So taxes need to be raised and expenses cut. We spent 6 trill in the mid east that was just pissed down the drain. A law limiting the growth of federal spending to be 1/2 that of the growth in the GDP. Another drop in the corporate tax rate to 15% with a corresponding the scaling back of deductions. All personal income to be taxed at the same rate. Right now spending is outpacing revenues by about 15%. With a 3% gdp growth in ten years we will no longer have a deficit and every year after we will have enough revenue to pare down the debt by 500 bill a year.

 

I'd venture it goes without saying in most places, but predictably not around here.

 

yep, they are a way to protect the American economy and workers... use them when needed, if America needs more of something then we have and can make here, no tariff, like with natural resources

 

Sort of the Perot plan. How to you cap mandatory spending when one party promises to not do anything about it? There has been short term growth in military spending but mandatory spending growth shows no signs of slowing down and of course with the baby boomers retiring it will only get worse.

Just tackling the current rate of spending appears to be ignored by Congress. If democrats get their dream programs through Congress it will be multiples worse. The democrats plans would require everyone's taxes to be doubled and it would still end up adding to the debt.

Deficit record was set in 2009 on a budget from 2008. Ya know who was Prez then? It wasn't Obama.

The Orange Oaf said he wouldn't cut taxes for rich people when he lied his way into the White House. Then he turned right around and gave 85% of the tax cut to people making $400,000 per year. Promise made, promise broken. If he had kept his word, average folks might have had a tax cut six times as high.

There was no Bush recession...there was a subprime morgage crisis caused by the Dems unwillingness to regulate Fannie and Freddie.

Hear me well. Bush and Obama made the pact where Obama took full charge of the 2009 budget. Obama made all deals. Bush can't get the credit or blame for the 2009 budget.

Finally you want all fiscal credit in the 2009 budget to go to only Obama as if he did save the economy. Do you admit it was really Bush that saved the economy during 2009 and stop the parade that it was Obama saving it?

That is correct which is why I support your comment. Then Democrats want all 2009 spending credited to Bush awarding him with title of the man who cured the economy. Per democrats Obama had no control until October 1 of 2009. So it was as if Bush still ran the economy all that year.
