    My point was that the Democratic party is not leftist with the exception of Bernie and some of the newcomers.

    Borh Clinton and Obama with some exception, ruled to the right.

    Dem's speak the language of feel your pain liberalism but are just as beholden to coporations as the Rep's.

    Left wing institutions like labour and radical university programs have largely been destroyed in the US at what remains is two parties that serve the same master to a greater or lesser degree.

    All this bickering about left and right is theatre for the TV news crowd.

    The US is ruled by corporate power which is fundamentally far-right.

    Corporatism is not a far-right position. Libertarians are on the economic far right and they are very much anti-corporatism. They shun things such as corporate welfare.

    I only partially agree with you. Have you listened to Elizabeth Warren? I think that her ideas are quite common among the Democratic base. On the local as well as the the national level, it is Democrats who are working towards public financed elections and taking money out of the equation.     A constant litany about the refugees is that they are "faking" the threat they are fleeing from. Honduras and Guatemela are run by gangs who threaten to literally destroy all the countries families, taking all the male children as cannon fodder and abducting all the girls for sex slaves but that threat is is either minimized or ignored by most conservatives

    If they are truly refugees then they have already entered another country before they got here who are supposed to take them in. We do not consider economic refugees to be refugees from oppression. Also, anyone entering through other than a port of entry where asylum is supposed to be claimed is here illegally.

    "The Holocaust didn't come out of nowhere. It was a slow build"

    I am constantly surprised by how many conservatives don't seem to understand this. Hitler didn't hardly ever come right out and say he wanted to end freedom and kill all his "enemies" He used code words and dog whistles almost constantly until war came and enabled him to say openly what he had intended all along. This minimizing of Trump's threat is insane as the fact is that he is quite close to being as far along now as Hitler was in 1935. It almost makes one wonder if conservatives don't actually favor such developments rather than view them with alarm

    He said Jews were the threat and the enemy in Mein Kampf. He made it clear but many Germans thought it was just talk and didn't take it seriously. The comparison with Hitler and Trump is just insane hysteria from really uneducated people.
