Madison WI did something even more disturbing. Camp Randall was used as a small Civil War POW camp. Several confederate soldiers died in captivity, likely from disease. They were buried in a cemetery with a stone with their names on it. No confederate flag or statue. Just their names. The city decided to have the tombstone removed.

Nearly eight months after Mayor Paul Soglin ordered a plaque at the Confederate Rest section to be taken out of the publicly owned cemetery, council members, on a voice vote, unanimously approved taking down a second stone monument, known as a cenotaph, that names the 140 soldiers buried in the northern-most cemetery for Confederate soldiers.

Perhaps we should remove headstones from every cemetery over the grave of anyone who ever did something bad.

Just remove any statues, monuments, and photos of all White males and the cultural Marxists might be happy......

You know what's hard to understand? Why people like yourself that know better don't want to admit that yes, they have been there for a long time but they were also put up at the height of Jim Crow and how a large percentage of the population found them offensive because of that reason.
I think there is a justification for the destruction of this property.
Were you OK when the US tore down Saddam Hussein's statue? That had been there for decades and was part of their history.

    Liberals love to erase history.

I was taught the confederate we’re losers. And I like people who don’t lose.

Did I do that right? Is that Trumpology enough?

they're such a lawless bunch, if they want the stuff removed, lobby for it, file more lawsuits (ya'lls good at that), but nah, they take the law into their own hands while telling the rest of us that we're the bad guys...

There wouldn't be any cemeteries left with more than a couple headstones.

It’s just a matter of time before someone shoots an RPG at Mount Rushmore. Leftists are always violent.

Maybe they can really drive their point home by getting rid of all their money. It has images of slave owners and religious references!!!

Having a Robert E. Lee statue in the United States is a bit like having an Alfred Jodl statue.

These Confederate Generals fought to protect their homeland from an invading and marauding foreign force that raped and pillaged their way across the South.......for that, most true Southerners want them memorialized in statues........

The Confederacy was our enemy, it waged war against us and our values, and it lost, just like the Nazis did. My grandpa killed a lot of Nazis, to make the world a more free and just place to live, just like my great-great-great-great grandpa killed a lot of Confederates, to make the US a more free and just place to live.

Is that the myth they tell kids in the South? I'm pretty sure most of those statues were put up to remind the newly freed blacks, who was still in charge. Especially after the slavers had managed to cheat the Blacks out of their voting rights and due process.

The corruption that I see within the Republican Party, seems to be strongly influenced by the moral rot the Confederacy represented.

If we're going to eliminate the bad things in our history, then how about we eliminate the memory of slavery? Whining, crying and going hysterical over something that none of us controlled or participated in is useless and is only used as a crutch.

And the US didn't tear down Hussein's statue, they helped the locals tear it down.

Do you recognize this person? That statue is in Seattle.

And the Macedonians don't like Democrats because Bill Clinton backed the highly corrupt (mafia type criminals) Albanians.

So, up North did they teach you about the New York drat riots where they hung ‘blackies’ from lampposts..........or that Sherman let blacks following his army to Savannah drown at a river crossing.......or that Lincoln thought blacks were inferior to Whites and originally wanted to deport them back to Africa?????

The United States defeated the Confederate States of America.

Why should there be any statues honoring those who were defeated?

It's like putting a statue of Eichmann or Himmler in Berlin.

I went to a fine school. Run by Benedictines. I even had to wear a uniform. I'm sure it was in an elementary grade when they first taught us that in the South, people had held slaves. And that they broke away from the rest of the country so no one could stop them from having slaves. They even started a war over it. But in the end, the forces of good prevailed and the slaves were freed.

This means that the Confederate generals were leading armies to fight for the right to hold other men in bondage, like beasts of burden. I fail to see the honor in that.

The North was so ‘intent’ on ending slavery that the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 only freed slaves in the Confederate states and failed to address about a half million slaves in states like Delaware, Maryland, Kentucky and Missouri.......LOL......’The War of Northern Aggression’ indeed.......

A lot of people forget Union or Confederate they were all AMERICAN. Just because one group of Americans has a different ideology then another we don't violently try to convince them otherwise with violence, well rational Americans anyway, the leftist party is a hole nother breed of confusion!
