The electoral college needs to go, its broken and only serves to disenfranchise voters

As the left seeks to have as much power as possible over as many people as possible, it will never allow this.

Then conflict seems inevitable. Because there is simply no reconciling the deep divisions that exist between the various political factions.

Hillary got millions more votes then Trump, that means some of the votes for Trump were worth more then the votes for Clinton

affirmative action for the smaller states causes this, Trump is an Affirmative Action President

if you get 10 vote and win and I got 15.... that means your 10 votes were worth more then my 15... it's really pretty simple

Interesting. In this scenario, are we deciding who wins based on the number of votes in aggregate?

Yes it does. Football analogy - it's not who gains the most yardage, it's the one who scores the most points that wins and the teams don't strive to win the yardage count. Watch the returns on TV. They might show the popular vote, but only to determine who'll win in the EC. The candidates are aware of this. You're not.

What governmental entity, empowered by law, certified the 'popular vote'?

In fact it DOES mean that it does not currently exist. We don't have the faintest clue what would have been the popular vote totals in 2016 if popular vote actually existed. Not only would campaign strategies have been much different if popular vote existed, but turnout numbers also would be much different. There are an awful lot of Republicans that don't bother to go vote in California because the Republican cannot win, and an awful lot of Democrats in Alabama who don't bother voting for the same reason. This could shift vote totals in either direction, and with an only 3 million vote difference, we truly have no idea how those differing dynamics would ultimately impact the overall popular vote total if popular vote were actually a thing. All you have right now is sour grapes and wishful thinking.

There are problems with popular vote as well as problems with Electoral College and one can debate the merits in both directions. One system does not necessarily favor one side over the other, yet you are mistakenly convinced that a popular vote would increase the chances of Democrats winning.

We are a nation of States, and it is the states the elect the President. If you want that to change, I suggest that you start working to get an amendment passed. Good luck with that.

It was actually one state - California. The moronic California voters passed a measure to increase the new and very regressive gasoline tax. Can’t make this up.

And? In the US, which is a Constitutional Republic, the popular vote is IRRELEVANT.

    Also: than*

The Electoral College is to act as a balance and does its job, albeit could be improved upon. The American Forefathers knew the crap that would come and added the EC due to that foresight.

I don’t have sour grapes, I thought they were both horrible candidates, being dismissive of someone as such because they are presenting a point doesn’t show your narrative in the best light.

Second we have national polls that track these sort of things which further proves the point.
