What i don't like is the guy in the big lifted truck who speeds up to block you from mergeing properly.

Agree. I don't know why people do that. I always make a point of going at least a little faster when I'm in the left lane and getting out of the way of others who would like to go faster, at least when traffic is light enough.

I am the guy with the big lifted truck, don't even have a rear view due to canopy. Thankfully I have aftermarket caravan mirrors and use them religiously.

In life there are rules and there is etiquite. You have to have both to be a good driver as it is with most other subjects.

Roads are in such bad shape in many states that people don't want to drive in lanes trucks have damaged. As well, some drivers, especially older folks, who don't like having vehicles on both sides (highways with more than two lanes each way), and don't like having to dodge vehicles entering or exiting the highway.

There are driving too slow laws in many states.

If I follow the law and pass a truck going 65 at the speed limit of 70, people get really pissed and someone even tried to run me off the road once.

Go too slow in the passing lane in Europe and you'll have a Mercedes sedan in your back window.

I'd settle for having the power to turn off the guy's cruise control.

And your speedometer be reading 2 mph slower and mine 2 MPH faster and the 4 MPH difference is significant.
The police are going to give you 9mph.
It's not the speed limit but the flow of traffic and the accordian effect a slower vehicle cause behind it.

Your headlights work better than mine because I don't seem able to get them over.

It ain't NASCAR the vehicle merging is to yield to traffic and adjust their speed to merge without interfering with traffic. There is nothing worse than someone in the right lane seeing someone coming down he ramp and immediately jumping into the left lane forcing faster traffic tobhave to slow down blocking boy lanes, as bad as the person merging thinking highway traffic is supposed to yield to them.

Hey, i have a question that has perplexed me
Lets say that you are already going 5-10 mph over the posted speed limit. And lets say that there is more traffic traveling your same speed 100 feet in front of you....but you are staying back a little just to be safer.... then What is the point to get over? It is not like anyone can (or should) go faster.... i am already going the same speed as traffic in the left lane, just not on the bumper of the car in front of me?

    You are in New Hampshire?
III. The driver of a vehicle using an entrance ramp onto a highway shall yield to the vehicles on the highway, regardless of whether there is a yield sign on the entrance ramp.

I was talking about night situations when two rigs drive next to each other on an empty highway. Once you start flashing lights they generally let you through.

If you travel with same speed but have too much extra space in front of you, you might be ruining the chances for drivers behind to pass front cars if right lane clears up for a little bit.

I don’t know. I have a 500 mile annual road trip through 3 states and I only notice highway improvements so far, not degradation.

You and i know that when traffic reaches a certain level of congestion... there is no meaningful way of going faster than the flow. Except of course those people who dart from lane to lane because it is eithe fun, or their time is so very valuable

That’s the way I usually drive. My preferred speed is 80mph and when I go slower I get irritated.
