Tell that to Antonia Scalia, now deceased, who acknowledged in Heller that the 2A "was not unlimited" in it's scope.

They are called magazines, not clips.

I'm sure there weren't or the shooter would have been dead or wounded.

Less than 0.001% of the population is killed by guns each year. How is that a crisis?

And he was wrong and he did that in order to get Kennedy to side with them. Kennedy wanted that language put in their.

Not plenty. And none of the guns used in mass shootings used clips.

You are correct; banning guns will not solve the killing problem, but it'll reduce it which means lives saved.

That is where we differ. I don't trust absolute power to anyone. I trust individuals who have fought for our freedoms on behalf of the government but see themselves as individuals who will always defend i"Individual Liberty". You go for the collective elite. See where it gets you.

I'm glad someone used a gun to stop him. Pistols kill far more than assault rifles. You coming for them next??

Question for you.... If government storm troopers come for your family, town, church or synagogue, are you going to be able to defend them with single shot, bolt action rifles?? Don't say the scenario has never happened. You'd be a fool if you did. Armed citizenry is also a deterrent from that ever happening. The Japanese in WWII never even considered invasion here because "there would be a rifle behind every tree". Don't you think a corrupt F.B.I. run be a Peter Stroyk or James Comey who's opinions run rough shod over our agencies couldn't provoke lawless acts on citizens? Assault weapons in the hands of citizens is another "balance of power" provided for in our Constitution.
If you want to stop these killings, change the culture. When I was a kid in high school, a lot of my friends and myself carried rifles and shotguns in our cars for squirrel and rabbit hunting after school. There were no mass shootings then. The culture taught us to value life.

Fair enough. I never purchased weapons of mass execution. I was being sloppy.

In Texas, in store full of people? Yeah right. The odds say otherwise.

It is 0.01%, and that isn't the only measure. How many lives are affected? How many people are shot but don't die? How many are maimed for life? How many family members suffer because of it? And most importantly, there is a definite trend. The nuts have figured out how easy it is.

And people like trump and fox noise jerks are pouring gasoline on the fire. Trump has blood on his hands. And now watch McConnell suddenly find his conscience.

Why am I not surprised that in the context of this thread you choose to $hit all over the 5.56 round? Jesus christ, you guys are getting so easy to read it isn't even a challenge anymore.

    Banning guns is unconstitutional.

    Thank God for the 2A!

What the intent of the military leadership is/was, in employing the 5.56, is to injure the enemy. If you blow a hole clean smooth through the guy's chest, then no trip to the medic can save him and his buddy next to him knows it so he won't even try. You only managed to take one of theirs out of the battle by blowing holes through them. If you use a varmint round and give the guy a sucking chest wound instead, then his buddy will spend time and effort getting him to the rear to see a medic, asap. In that instance you've managed to take two of theirs out of action instead of one. Maybe three, depending how popular the injured enemy is with his fellow troops.

"Kinder, gentler"? No, not at all. I wonder why you don't know any of this already.

As was Scalia, who acknowledged that the 2A wasn't nearly as absolute as you wish it to be. That won't stop you from fetishising it to the point that you deny reality. Enjoy your mastabatory moment. They are getting harder (excuse my pun) to rectify. No doubt you'll continue to double down on your "mah 2a says I can shoot you with any gun I choose." Good luck with that as a defense. And, I really do mean Good Luck.

Well, I interpret it to mean that people can have guns and not have all guns banned, which I am okay with. However, that doesn't mean there can't be restrictions placed on the 2nd amendment. After all, there are on the 1st.

Care to address any of my other points?

Do you think there even IS a solution to this mass murder situation we have as a country? I admit, I cannot think of a single solution that doesn't infringe on someone's liberties. However, if we do nothing, things will continue to escalate and the body count will rise more and more quickly as time passes, IMO.

Sure, it could happen. And considering how much better the army, etc are armed and protected now, even with our rights, I don't think it will end so good for us no matter what we do.

As for culture, how do you propose to change the culture without violating anyone's rights? After all, not that I would, but if I wanted to, I have the right to be a total jerk to anyone I want for any reason I want, as long as I don't violate any laws. And that action WILL affect the person I would target, even if only emotionally. This is how things escalate. And they will continue to do so, IMO.

So, how would you change the culture?

So you believe restrictions on fully automatic weapons are unconstitutional?
Do you believe that everyone should have the constitutional right to own grenades? SAMs? RPGs? Biological, chemical and nuclear weapons?

    Those are all "Arms".
