Hard to believe that if this were going on in any Christian European country the left would remain so silent. The left portrays China as a victim in the trade war, but refuses to address Chinese policies.

 

Last time I saw this discussed on the forums was when the fringe right was cheering for China in this situation and daydreaming that we would do the same here in the US.

How would we react if a large segment of our country was Islamic and there was a growth of radicalism - thanks to Erdogan's influence in wanting to rebuild the Ottoman Empire by uniting the Turkic Islamic adherents from the Balkans to China? Frankly, I don't think what China is doing to protect its territorial integrity could be any worse than the genocide Erdogan has committed against the Kurds in Turkey, Iraq and Syria to protect its own territorial integrity.

This doesn't mean I accept national boundaries since I feel Central governments inhibit people's freedoms. City states would be more to my liking, but the situations in the world being what they are means nations have to make do - otherwise they would end up like Libya, Iraq and Syria. We can no more make decisions for other nations and the problems they face, than they can make decisions for our own nation.

You are thinking of the later backpeddling he did. His initial proposal was based on religion, not country of origin. He only switched tracks when it became clear he'd lose that fight in the courts.
