And the beauty of that is that you only need call it a 'Right Wing Bus' before you attack it with hammers and have it sent out of state. No further evidence is required, and that's the intellectual depth the country is now having to deal with.
He provoked them into beating him so badly that he had to be hospitalized? What provocation could account for this?
I surely hope so. This could be a very good century for our species, if we can avoid a big war. But ... I've read a lot of history, both for fun and, a long time ago, with an eye to making some. Then, I concentrated on those countries and historical periods where it all came apart. And I get a feeling that the US is in terminal decay ... I hope not, especially with the world in the situation it's in.
You remember the Cold War and the 'Clock of Doom', or whatever it was called, always a minute or two before midnight? Before that WWII, McCarthyism, racial unrest and burning cities. It's not new but is instead a way of life. We are in an era of relative peace right now and people throughout the world are much better off than during those times. Groups like Antifa, Black Panthers, BLM, Weathermen, etc. will always be with us, getting hotter or cooler through each generation. This Antifa BS is kid stuff and can be snuffed out in a few weeks if it gets too serious. Right now they're being tolerated until its younger members finally get a grip on their lives, or get laid or a real job. If they don't then they'll inevitably pay the consequences.
You just ignore that fact that the Russians have been spying on us and had infiltrated political movements, the state department univerties and Hollywood? Or like Trump you just do not care that an enemy of our nation is operating inside our society and our institutions?
You and I covered this yesterday.... go find the post I made from the history of this guy with Portland Antifa....
Whereas your inability to spot incredibly obvious sarcasm shows the lack of humor the country is now having to deal with. Having a sourpuss like Trump in the Oval Office certainly doesn't help matters. Whatever your feelings about Obama (and I really don't want to get you started), the guy had a reasonable sense of humor... Hell, even Junior had a sense of humor, while sucking as President.. I think the US should go the way of Ukraine and elect a professional comedian as President. All we have to choose from are amateurs... As God is my witness, I'd vote for Stephen Colbert as President right here and now... He certainly doesn't have any less experience than Trump going in, so I don't see how that could go wrong...
Down the line, who knows? But in the next ten years or so, I don't think things will change all that much. The GOP will still be a party of mostly older white religious people and the Dems will be the opposite. The GOP base is shrinking and, rather than try and expand their base, they're doubling down on rhetoric and policies that are extremely unpopular with most people. That is political suicide. I often ask Republicans: how is what you're doing a viable long-term strategy, and I always get crickets, because obviously it's not.
The Russians have been spying on all democracies for over a century but what can be done about it? Those who the Leftists influenced have done all you claim, and more. But there is also the 1st Amendment which allows the Russiians, Chinese, etc. to speak anti Americanism in America. The idea is to learn the difference between propaganda and the truth. A clue as to which is which is when your democratically elected leaders are publicly vilified without any evidence being offered. Or when violence against them is being considered and condoned. This is usually associated with third world countries but it's happening in America now also..
I do not think there will be any radical changes coming in the rest of my lifetime (25-30 years). We will probably get another Democrat in 2020 or 2024. Without Trump to stir up the nuts on both sides it will probably cool down the idiotic rhetoric that has been coming mostly from the right wing lately. Hopefully we will get a young, intelligent and charismatic leader who will have the skills to get some constructive bi partisan legislation passed in the areas of infrastructure, health care and energy production. However I believe that until we restructure our monetary system away from control of international bank swindlers and retake control by creating debt free US Treasury notes and abolishing the Federal Reserve system and the IRS it will be a slow slog. If someone comes along and gets rid of those two entities we could swiftly transform our country, our environment and our economic well being in a matter of 5-10 years into that shining city on the hill that Reagan spoke of.
Made me work.... Post #273.... They have history... It wasn't random, but it wasn't warranted either...
Yes, Stephen Colbert. Good idea. Leftists should never attempt sarcasm, btw. Their ideas and opinions are bad enough without confusing the issues even further. Who can tell when they're being serious, except when they throw rocks at people?
You should just stop at "It wasn't warranted". You can take it another step further and say it was 'Very Wrong" or "Extremely Cruel", but 'it wasn't warranted' is a small step in the right direction.
What happened in America is that at a Trump rally ( or rallies) Trump supporters physically asaulted a protester for excerzing his 1st amendment rights and Trump urged his supporters to hurt the guy and Trump said that he would pay the legal fees of the thugs who hurt the man excersizing his 1st amendment rights. That is what a thug politician or president or dictator does in third world countries. Presidents, politicians, head of states, or dictators who say that they will have their political opponents jailed and have their political campaign staff or administrative staff cheer "lock her or lock him up" are turd world so called leaders. By your definition Trump has and is behaving as a third world politician
Here's the story - video, links are always handy - and the guy was immediately stopped by attendees and the police (unlike what happened to Andy Ngo) and the proTrump crowd, and others most likely, were shouting 'lock him up. https://www.newsweek.com/trump-ohio-protester-assault-cincinnati-1452260
See, I can detect and distribute sarcasm equally well... It ain't that hard if you have the capacity... But that's EXACTLY what people were saying about Donald Trump in 2015 and see what happened....
That would be fine too....although I find Colbert's style of delivery way better than Stewarts, but Jon did a nice job with the 9/11 fund thingy... I'd elect them both and let Jon president on the even numbered days and Steven the odds... And BTW, who says Stewart liked 6x better?
Yes. If I were in charge of the Republican Party, I would abandon the 'free market is always best' ideology and propose our own version of a New Deal. I know from my own relatives that social conservatives are often economic liberals (in the New Deal sense). I think that's one of Trump's appeals, or was - suggestions about infrastructure projectst for example; that, and the idea that he was not a captive of the Washington Cold War establishment, with its endless foreign wars to bring Transgender Rights awareness to Absurdistan, which are mostly fought by their children, not the golden boys and girls of Yale and Stanford. On our side, it's called the 'Republican Workers Party' strategy. That may yet come. If it doesn't, then another possiblity is that we shrink even more, but on your side, the trend towards making would-be cop-killers like Michael Brown into delegates-in-spirit to the Democratic Convention, reparations, open borders, leads to some big crisis, during which we can slip out the door. But the future is unpredictable, and in the meantime, we're buying our AR15s and stocking up on ammo . (I read that it has run out at some places this week!) However it might get better -- one of my childhood memories is waiting to go swimming at the YMCA when I was about ten, but my parents were sitting and staring intently at our little black and white TV and couldn't be moved -- something about Army-McCarthy hearings. I now know although at the time it meant nothing to me .. and we got through that, even though a friend of mine was in prison for a few months until the Supreme Court ruled against the Smith Act. I don't think so because I believe the Left is attacking the culture this time ... not a disease of the skin but a disease of the bone marrow. We shall see!!!
Jimmy Kimmel has Hollywood, and Hollywood has its finger on the pulse of America. Time voted him one of the most influential people in THE WORLD! Kimmel for Prez! Debate over.
As long as Adam Carolla is VP, I guess I can live with that.... I don't find Kimmel all that funny but maybe it's the writing? Also, that was mostly due to Kimmel and his son and the health care debate....
