They aren't peaceful. Often times they are drug users, they haven't any toilets unless you let them use yours there will be a problem with human waste. When it gets cold they often build fires that can spread. As long as they are good naighbors I don't think anybody would mind but they aren't.

:roflol: What do you mean? I pointed out that you misread it! Clearly you acknowledge that you did! So no, your homeless friend can't sleep anywhere he wants.

    Sometimes a crutch is needed.

Sure, but you can't stop NGO's from providing food.

To be fair, @modernpaladin told me that he would tolerate it in his neighborhood.

No, more do I think we should. Just no more hand outs from the government. Charity is acceptable.

Wonder if he owns a home. That changes things.

Some people don't have two feet. They need a crutch.

Do people grow back a foot, or a leg? Most prosthetics require a crutch, and even a prosthetic is really just a type of crutch anyway. Some people require permanent assistance, but ALL people require SOME assistance, even you and I.

Then he must have mental health problems. Who would CHOOSE to live that way?

Where are these people's families? They should be made to take care of them. A lot of them should be in drug facilities or mental health facilities----NOT on the streets where they are causing a health crisis that affects everyone.

I guess you are unfamiliar with the euphemism.

    See above.

We used to house such people in sanitariums. But now we just let them die in the street because that is somehow more humane.

He's a conservative like us. His concern is that dealing with the homeless problem will lead to a rise in taxes and maybe he's right, I don't know. The point of this thread was to highlight that it is Democratic policies that cause this mess. In order to reverse the mess, maybe a tax hike is a necessary evil. Maybe conservatives have to go against their principles in order to reverse Democratic chaos.

It seems they are more attracted to Democrat run cities because they are allowed to do whatever they want at the expense of the taxpayer.

Sometimes they don't have families, sometimes
I could accept a raise in taxes if it meant problems were being addressed but taking money and doing nothing... That isn't okay.

But of course, there was a time where they couldn't do what they want.

From what I’m reading most street people are beyond rehab

They are substance abusers or mentally ill

Maybe one in ten are just temporally down on their luck

They can be assisted to get off the street

Yeah I imagine. You can't ignore problems and hope they go away.

    A lot are veterans.

I'm not against helping them. Not if that comes in the form of charities or even programs.

I'm against removing any laws controlling them. That makes things worse for everybody.
