So many could be any multiple of one. AME is the African Methodist Evangelical Church. The were definitely not Transcendantalist. Neither were the Quakers. The Transcendentalist were primarily friends and immediate family members of Emerson and Thoreau.

My thoughts on op claim is it's basically irrelevant because regardless of what Democrats did or didn't do people are what societys made up of and people are a moral and history has shown us that with past civilizations. Maybe just maybe Democrats hastened the decline but the decline was always going to happen.

While many were among a circle of Yankees who were friends, family, and acquaintances of Thoreau and Emerson, they also included disciples of both genders (highly unusual for the time) who conducted what were called "conversations" (chats about news or life issues in coffee shops or other venues which they called 'communities'), read their many books and publications (including the Dial), lived in utopian societies, went to college, attended meetings in Lyceums (of which there were several thousand in the USA), and met at Yankee churches. They were not a small circle of friends at all. To this day they have tens of thousands of disciples, myself among them.
