The Babylonian Talmud. That is the book that some Jews, especially the Orthodox, follow to a tee. Resh Lakish said: He who is observant of fringes will be privileged to be served by two thousand eight hundred slaves, for it is said, Thus saith the Lord of hosts: In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold, out of all the languages of the nations shall even take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you, etc.14 http://www.come-and-hear.com/shabbath/shabbath_32.html
These guys come across like the Mullahs and Muftis of the Muslim world. And instead of being servant to the God Most High, they think that others will serve THEM. As if there is another form of resurrection - the resurrection of those will lick the boots of Hasidim Jews.
It is biblical. 2 Esdras 6:55-59 (CEB) = 55 “I have said all these things before you, Lord, because you have said that you created the oldest age[a] for our sake. 56 You have said that the other nations born of Adam are nothing, that they are like spit, and you have compared their abundance to a drop from a pitcher. 57 But look now, Lord! These nations that are valued as nothing rule over us and devour us, 58 while we, your people, whom you have called your oldest offspring, your one and only child, those who are zealous for you, your dearest ones, are handed over to them. 59 If the world was created for our sake, why don’t we possess our world as an inheritance? How long will this situation last?”
It is a book included in the original Bible. The Common English Bible has all of the original books = https://www.biblegateway.com/versions/Common-English-Bible-CEB/#booklist. Remember, the Protestant Bible versions only date back to the early 1880s so they have been in existence for less than 140 years.
Well, some Muslims think "when Shiloh comes" is prophetic of Muhammed. Christians have done the same thing with Hosea and Isaiah.
Nope. There is no prophecy about Mohammed in Scripture. The Bible is all about God's plan of salvation, the Messiah.
You are missing the point. That book, and others, were in the Bible until a couple of English guys led the movement to delta them when they published their version in the 1880s. One reason they did that was to reduce publishing costs. In addition, it was also around the time that the Zionist movement originated so it was also a propaganda movement as well. By deleting those books they made the Bible seem less Jewish focused and more user friendly. The Protestants eagerly adopted it but the Catholics retained the Bible as originally written and used for the previous 1,190 years. The Apocrypha are actually the more interesting books because they are more secular in nature than some of the other books. They do include the God character but don't go overboard with it. They have some great stories.
None of the biblical books are the word of God because the God character does not exist. The biblical God character was simply the series of emperors and chief priests who ruled the various dominant Middle Eastern empires during ancient times. The last one bit the dust with the collapse of the Babylonian Empire around 530 and the death of its emperor. He hasn't been heard from since and he will never, ever, return.
Interesting. This God told the Jewish nation, long before the Babylon Captivity, that there will be a second return to Israel. That the Jews will reject their Messiah and be exiled. They would be trampled under the feet of the Gentiles, and the nations they are in will be their graves. Yet God will keep a remnant, not for three to five generations as is usually the case with lost nations, but for all the years until their return to Israel. And they will take back their nation with the sword. That's happening now, in your own generation. Those emperors and priests must have been profoundly clever people to see the future.
Your comments just show that people are too stupid to blast the guys who want to oppress them. If someone had the guts to whack those guys upside their heads a lot of misery might have been avoided.
People write BS to inspire others to keep the faith. Since some of those people will believe the BS they will take steps to make the BS a reality. No magical sky daddy is needed. It is obvious that the Jesus character was just flapping his jaws because he has been invisible for thousands of years. He was supposed to return during the lifetimes of his original listeners.
Yes, some thought He would return. And they had to be told otherwise. The Messiah would return when the Gentiles time was complete and the Jews would be back in their homeland again.
You mean the entire tide of Christianity, from its inception till the fall of the grand churches all happened by AD70? It gives details in Revelations (ca 100 AD) of this fall. Paraphrasing "no more the candle, no more the voice of the bride and bridegroom... but a cage of every hateful and unclean bird" That's the churches of the 20th and 21st Century - an empty shell of its gilded, idol driven glory, given over to politicization, and of the worst kind (Marxism, Liberation Theology, PostModernism etc..) Not sure how you shoehorn all this into AD70 when Christianity had only, largely speaking, one form - the Apostolic church. It repudiated most of the doctrines of this future religion such as crowning kings and killing people.
What I mean by "doesn't sound biblical" I don't mean I haven't encountered it, the very words sound non-spiritual, kind of like Maccabees - conquest, victory, fighting, earth and time issues.
No.. I mean the Gentiles.. the Romans army and the Syrians, Egyptians and Arabs who also fought under Vespasian and Titus's command. The nations that came against the Jews were part of the first century Roman Empire. … the Gentiles. Liberation theology? Jesus was teaching non violent resistance in the Sermon on the Mount. How to shame your enemy and survive the Roman occupation.
Jesus said Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles until the time of the Gentiles be fulfilled. Jerusalem was back in Jewish hand in the mid 1960's.
NOT Christians.. Gentiles. all the countries of the Roman Empire that fought the Jews and destroyed the temple. You're channeling Scofield...That was a sales job to promote Christian Zionism.
Sorry, I am just reading the bible. Never read this Scofield. It says of the Messiah, way back in the Bronze Age, that His coming would be the end of the Jewish nation and in Him the Gentiles will trust. Gentiles were seen as potential Christians. So when Jesus spoke of the times of the Gentiles being finished we can take it that He meant the Gentiles would begin to behave as the Jews had behaved - no more belief.
