Washington (CNN) President Donald Trump is hardly acting like a very stable genius.

Instead, his unleashed fury, fact-bending rants and persecution complex are conjuring an image of someone seeing his presidency slipping through his hands. While current political conditions seem unlikely to lead to his ouster from office, Trump appears increasingly powerless to save himself from the historical scar of impeachment.

    (Emphasis added).

    https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/03/politics/donald-trump-impeachment-inquiry/index.html

I still think that Trump actually getting Convicted/Removed from Office is Extremely Unlikely (given the Current GOP-Led Senate).

However, I do think that Trump WILL be Impeached (at some point).
Even if Conviction Chances are (virtually) non-existent.

At this point, I don't think that Impeaching Trump will hurt the Dems that bad in 2020.

The "Impeachment will hurt the Dems" narrative is looking more (and more) like RW Pro-Trump BS (with each passing day).

    Thoughts?

The problem the Democrats have is not that they don't rabidly oppose Trump more often. They should be doing everything they can to present a center left alternative to Trump.

They don't need to convince Rachel Maddow, they need to convince Kev Smith from Ohio.

The problem America has is that we haven’t seen our President doing his job without Congress investigating him. I can only imagine what things could have been done had they been working together rather than refusing to accept the election outcome and go to work.

Fake Don's legal defense is quite unconventional.

Congress hasn't "worked together" on much for 30 or 40 years. This is nothing new, and something all the presidents, from both parties, during that time have had to deal with. Why would you expect it to suddenly start happening again with a divisive megalomaniac like Trump becoming president? He barely retains the support of his own party and even then mostly out of self-interest for their own seats and not because they actually respect him and want him.

Make up your mind, my friend.

President Trump will be reelected, more so if he's impeached.

Yes, and they have been even less so since the Dems took control over it.

Republicans have so much to run on in the upcoming elections... hopefully they will take a cue from President Trump and run ruthless, vulgar, obnoxious, in your face campaigns. Just like Democrats do.

Perhaps if they had then we wouldn't have had Trump to begin with.

Looking at much of what he has actually accomplished I’m personally glad he hasn’t been able to get more done. Our deficit is exploding, tax cuts for the rich that have not only not paid for themselves we are actually seeing a retraction in some areas, open corruption, partisan appointments...

    No thanks.

The 116th congress has actually been quite busy.

    https://www.congress.gov/bills-with-chamber-action/116th-congress/browse-by-date

The reason nothing is happening is Moscow Mitch. Even legislation that he knows most Americans want is not seeing the light of day on his watch.

When has Trump ever taken anyone's advice? Hasn't he said many times that he's "the only one" and knows more than the experts on and endless array of subjects? Just sayin'.

He hopes to appear rational by contrast, and requires someone not yet institutionalized.

I wonder what his base would do if the Senate did remove him from office? I know that's unlikely, but I'm wondering what if.

Some of you here are very much in Trump's camp, so tell us what you would do if he gets not only impeached (akin to an indictment) but actually removed (akin to a conviction). I am not trolling you. I sincerely want to know.

The problem is the Dems can't convince Kev Smith from Ohio without losing the extreme left Rachel Maddow fraction of their base.

Kev Smith from Ohio working hard and struggling to feed his family has nothing in common with morons who want to take his guns, his car, his burger, send his job to China, force him to believe in 180 genders, dump millions of illegals on his head and make him pay for their healthcare and education.... but on the positive side, with Dems he can count on $15/hr minimum wage.

The news of what Judicial Watch released should brighten Trump's day. Plus Barr and Durham are in Italy looking at what they have regarding how the Russian hoax started. All that should make Trump happy and the deep state concerned.

Trump is not my 'favorite' person, but try for one moment to look at the situation(s) he's dealt with since becoming president.

How would you feel if you had these completely unprincipled, radical Democrats howling for your blood every damned day since the moment the election results were announced? They have tried everything just short of outright assassination to try to destroy his presidency, and now they're off on this "impeachment" field trip.

Can they impeach him? SURE THEY CAN! All it takes is a majority vote in the House! They can 'impeach' him for any reason that amuses them, whether there's any rational reason to or not! Oh, but then it goes to the SENATE.... :roflol:

That said, by the time all the wretched, corrupt filth that Geriatric Joe and his kid pulled in Ukraine gets fully exposed, these America-hating, radical House Democrats will have little left to rejoice about after they've had their little impeachment vote. . :cynic:

They don't need to take any cues. They already run the same kinds of campaigns.

Seriously, do you actually pay attention to politics or do you just have a rosy picture in your mind that you work off of and who needs this reality nonsense anyway?

Perhaps. But I doubt it. Trump is president largely because social media and the 24 hour news cycle have allowed Americans to invent the circumstances that allow them to pit themselves against each other. Voters were voting as much or more against other voters as they were voting for the candidates. Trump pissed off the left and that only drove up his support. That's why a corrupt man like him can get elected in the same election where his supporters were rejecting Hillary Clinton because she was corrupt. They voted both for and against corruption, and they did so because, in their minds, they were voting against the caricatures of "the enemy" that social media and 24 hour news channels have made easy to perpetuate. Ditto for the left. They were voting against the Republicans/Conservatives that they see in the memes and the videos and hear about in the op-ed style podcasts.

We've known about this for a while and we tend to blame it on the media. We think the media and the politicians are pitting us against each other, but that's not true at all. We do it to ourselves. We are voluntarily choosing to believe the fictions and the caricatures and the nonsense because it's sensational and because it confirms our biases. That's how Trump was elected. It's how future Trumps and future nutjobs like Kamala Harris will be elected.
