What happened to the Universal Health Care in their Home countries? Why would they come here?

WTF? Know of any other country in the world which gives birthright to any child who’s mother squatted momentarily on the other side of Rio Grande, otherwise being an Illegal Alien? Likewise, do you know of any other country in the world that give free welfare and medical care to anyone who happens to be in the country with or without reason... just because?

have you even been outside of United States ones? Mexico does not count :D

did you even read the OP before starting ******** on America? Bet, you did not.

The rule means that foreign nationals with serious health issues and no means to pay for health insurance will not be eligible to obtain visas to permanently begin resettling in the U.S.

What do you propose we do about millions of so-called Americans who 'are not' able to take care of themselves?

Why do you ONLY focus on some potential costs while ignoring work and financial and military contributions?

Truth is you have NO IDEA whatsoever how much these people cost the US? How about throwing around some facts with all this BS? Exactly how much are 'they' costing the US? Exactly how much do they pay in SS and income tax and sales tax and property tax, etc.?

You surely know that anyone, whether they are illegal or a visitor on vacation, or a so-called American, can walk into any ER and get appropriate treatment no matter the color of their skin?

If THEY need to 'be able to take care of themselves', and you say this is the POINT, then why are you okay with double-standards? If THEY must take care of themselves then ALL Americans should also take care of themselves...right?

As Trump goes down, expect the ranting against immigrants, the favorite Trump punching bags, to become more unhinged.

As to the OP: LEGAL immigrants already have a work requirement to even get a visa. Shouldn't the employers already cover their health care? This is a big nothing, but a dog whistle to immigrant-hating Trump supporters.

That would depend on the job and its benefits.

Otherwise-back to Berlin as they say.

Thank you, MNNeil, for making us aware that Trump's proclamation is a sham, since it is already covered by Public Charge.

That was just a point. If you're a legal immigrant, you're not supposed to come here to get free stuff.

So... should poor, uneducated, old and also very sick come here "for jobs or education"?

Excellent, thank you for splaining it to us Deplorables. Now, what again is wrong with President's proclamation? In essence, it says " applicant will have to prove that they will have either employer-based health insurance before arriving in the U.S. or a non-subsidized private health insurance plan" No biggy, right? why are you up in arms?

Public Charge has been on the books for over 100 years. To quote:

"In determining inadmissibility, USCIS defines “public charge”as an individual who is likely to become “primarily dependent on the government for subsistence, as demonstrated by either the receipt of public cash assistance for income maintenance, or institutionalization for long-term care at government expense.”

What does his proclamation add to that?

and if they poor, uneducated, old, don’t
That’s easy. USCIS defines public charge. It does not specify the process of preventing person who’s likely to become public charge from entering USofA.

what is again wrong with that?

Its not a sham. It’s a well thought through, well crafted proclamation. Even adds needed clarification to the law, and it also hurts no one. Right?

That would depend on the reason and their legal status. If they aren't citizens then deport them. If they are, do they qualify for SSI disability? If they don't point them toward the employment office.

Are you talking about legal immigrants that did it the right and legal way, or those who just ran across the border and yelled Ollie Ollie oxen free?

this is not what it’s all about; If they’ already in this country, grandfathering rules will probably apply.
This is all about preventing these who will most likely to become public charges from getting a visa in the first place.

My employer has some of the best health care insurance around. I paid $100 out of pocket for my hip replacement and $0 for my cataract surgery complete with corrective lenses. But, I have to WORK for it.

Holy crap. You cant make this **** up with a team of writers.

Trump plays to his uneducated base every time and they swallow this crap up hook line and sinker and then think he is the second coming.

When immigrants come to this country, you ARE subsidizing their “healthcare” because they dont carry health insurance, go to the hospital for routine care, and then your bill goes up because they dont pay. You ARE subsidizing their healthcare.

Oh, and you can thanks St Reagan for that law ;)

But lets just be honest, This wont last long when employers start screaming that they need H1B employees because they are cheaper. Trump is such an idiot.

If they are here illegally, they can't apply for free stuff.
