A Florida middle school teacher called Donald Trump an "idiot" on a quiz for students, angering at least one parent who objected to the presidential pejorative.

The instructor at Watson B. Duncan Middle School in Palm Beach Gardens recently gave a quiz asking kids to identify the "45th Pres; 2017; Republican; Real Estate businessman; Idiot," NBC affiliate WPTV reported.

Duncan Principal Philip D'Amico sent a letter to parents saying the matter is under investigation and the teacher has been reassigned.

I completely object to this.... it's middle school... questions should NOT be this easy... how do we expect to compete on the world stage giving away easy grades like this?

The teacher has been reassigned - To the Trump cabinet as the new Acting Secretary of Middle School Testing...

Also, as an aside, is that the most beautiful middle school campus you've ever seen? (see OP link) OMG... Of course, it is Palm Beach, home of Mar a Lago, so there's money around...

I guess I should officially object to this, but it's too damn funny... If this guy wants to toss his career away for our entertainment, who are we to complain?

Putting one's politics into the class is wrong and the teacher, if the story is accurate, should be punished.

But yeah, the quiz is an easy one.

Typical brain washing that has gone on for year in public schools. I will never forget the day one of my sons told me that he had learned in school that Columbus was a bad man who killed the Indians. Of course the MD school he went to never taught kids about Indians killing Indians.

A teacher should not introduce any political bias into the classroom period. Neither pro nor con. In this story is not MUS by the TPN ( Trump Propaganda Network) thatbteacher needs to be punished. A good public flogging will do just fine.

    This teacher should be fired.

There is no room in our public school system for personal political opinions and indoctrination.

    2) The Teacher was just Teaching the TRUTH.

    3) Should be a Mortal Lock for "Teacher of the Year". :salute:

Yes he was terrible man, terrible enough to shock the spanish people of his time for the way he treated native american, but yes he "discovered" america.
We all know that the vikings had a colony in north america that disappeared, we all know that possibly the chinese went once there, and we all know he was persuaded to be in Asia. However, he remain to be the one that opened durable sea roads toward the americas.

    1) You cannot discover something that people are already living on
    2) He never even landed on what is now known as America
    upload_2019-10-6_15-11-13.jpeg

“Christopher Columbus did not “discover” the Americas, nor was he even the first European to visit the “New World.” (Viking explorer Leif Eriksson had sailed to Greenland and Newfoundland in the 11th century.)”
    https://www.history.com/topics/exploration/christopher-columbus

So no, he was just a horrible person and should be erased from history as a noble figure

I laughed, but that’s unacceptable and there is no way this teacher didn’t assume they’d lose their job for it.

I won't debate about the fact he was horrible, because I agree with.

Inhabitants of Europe, Asia and Africa were ignorant of the existence of the Americas. The inhabitant of the americas were as much ignorant of the existence of the rest of the world.

His travels changed radically the world and made both world conscious of their existence. Yes, he was cruel, but even "bad" people do important things.

I don't trust people that want to cut through history books, that's the behaviour of nazis, communist and talibans. He should remembered, maybe as a cruel man, but remembered.

The problem with this is that if it is wrong, its wrong. But since liberals are chiming it, they thinks ok because it rips on Trump, but had someone said the same about Obama there would outrage. Shame liberals are such hypocrites. I think this is wrong, injecting personal idiotic politics into the classroom, but I'd say same regardless of who is or isn't president...

I always find it fascinating how threads on here evolve.... From Trump is an idiot to Christopher Columbus travels in 13 posts...

FWIW, I have no problems with crediting Columbus for "discovering" America.... Not sure he needs an official US holiday named after him anymore. however...

I'm pushing for Adam Schiff Day to replace Columbus Day... any takers??

I read the posts and no one thinks it’s OK. So who the hell are you talking about? Or are you just spewing nonsense?

Sorry, answering to @cd8ed claims, but you're right, that not the place.

From my point of view, it just show that if you can, you should put your children out of public school. Nobody care of Donald Trump, however his behavour show both his lack of professionalism and emotionnal immaturity.

And your point is what? Only government workers get Columbus Day off as a paid vacation anyway. He did sail around a lot even if he didn't know exactly where he was. That in itself was an achievement as significant as landing on the moon in 1492. Next you will probably want to dispute the date too or maybe that we never landed on the moon.

I expect you will also say that Obama was the best president since Lincoln or maybe that Lincoln wasn't a great president.
