    No. The problem is that Columbus is put on an undeserved pedestal.

    What did Columbus accomplish? Columbus Day is only celebrated in America because Italian Americans wanted a national hero. As an Italian American, I don't feel "pride" on Columbus Day. He was a rotten pile of sh*t.

    He wasn't a "criminal" because there were no laws against what he did in those days. But what he did was pure evil.

    Enslaving people and chopping off their hands and noses for refusing to pay "tribute" to him is evil.

    Within a generation, the Arawak population went from 8 million to 0. This is evil.

    Boiling children and babies alive is evil.

    Letting dogs loose on women while making bets to see who can survive longest is evil.

    If you wish to celebrate Columbus as a "great explorer," then we may as well celebrate Hitler as a "great conquerer" and as a "motivational speaker."

    What I find hilarious is that a middle school teacher making $50,000 a year calls a guy an idiot that just happens to be billionaire with businesses all over the world that did the unthinkable and won a national election when being out spent 4 to 1. Several on here do it every day and it makes me laugh because if Trump's an idiot what does that make him or her? Real American Geniuses these libs are.

    I agree with you ( and her). Personal political bias has no place in the classroom, including College. The home environment and peer pressure will take care of molding young minds. Growing older and life experience may bring changes.
