Pelosi and Schiff are impeaching, WITHOUT THE HOUSE. With an agreed upon set of rules. Without the President even being told what is the charge who are the witnesses and what have said. Doesn't a person accused have a right to that? The Congress is NOT a criminal investigative body. Criminal investigations and grand juries are supposed to be unbiased and neutral to the evidence. If one thing Congress and the Democrats are not is that. They have the transcript have a vote if they want to impeach him over it. Bring it out into the open, stop with the secrecy. But this is not a legal proceeding it is not supposed to be and the attempts to compare and equate to a criminal prosecution are folly.

We have 3 precedents, 3 previous impeachment proceedings. They all started with a vote of the full House to authorize even starting one, every member voting not two members deciding on their own.

When has an impeachment of a President, an elected official ever started without a full vote of the House to authorize it. Precedent is an important part of our system of government. And impeachment is not to discipline, judgement in all impeachment shall be limited to removal from office. If there is a criminal or civil offense then the Judicial branch through the DOJ carry that out and any discipline.

And they went before joint committees and both sides could call witnesses and the Presidents had their legal counsel there to present their defense.

The Constitution says the HOUSE, not the SPEAKER of the House have the sole power. We have three precedents. Why are two member vering from the Constitution and precedent to engage in an impeachment and do so behind closed doors working with anonymous witnesses who are refusing to testify in public and then about hearsay.

Because it is only about overturning the 2016 election and it's a hail Mary from their own 8 to try not to lose in 2020.

There is a lot of good stuff in the Mueller report regarding what a slimy administration Trump has assembled. Now we are getting details about more close Trump associates and their ties to Russian Mobsters and Putin stooges like the two mooks who got nailed at Dulles bolting the country after having breakfast with hand grenade Rudy.

Hopefully our congress will be able to make a clear narrative of corruption between Trump’s associates and Russian crooks which has been documented by Mueller and now we have a couple more crooks tied into the same ring along with a guy who is out on 100 million bail in Austria Dmytry something fighting extradition to the US for bribery and extortion with ties to Guiliani and Joe DeGenova. This is really getting good and it appears that Schiff and our US Congress are doing a heck of a job unwinding this clusterf*ck. This is truly US Constitutional Government in action.

Still trying to come up with a subset when the constitution does not.
Well this one is being handled just as several other impeachments have been, with a referral to a committee to investigate specific charges using the powers of the House to subpoena testimony and record evidence about those charges. When and if they decide to write and refer articles of impeachment to the House, and if and when the House votes in favor of those articles, then the House impeaches. Not one minute before. The rules are agreed upon, when they are adopted by the full house through majority vote at the beginning of each legislative session at about the same time as the Speaker is chosen. The House rules allow for a preliminary vote for impeachment hearings to be authorized. . They do not require a preliminary vote.

The House was plenty unbiased. But now it has seen sufficient evidence to believe that hearings are warranted based on the whistleblower complaint, the summary of the transcript of the call, and Trump's own admissions on it's content. It will perform its constitutional function and develop as thorough and complete a case to indict and prosecute in the Senate as it practically can.

If Republicans want a swift resolution, then they can join the effort to get those witness subpoenas respected, the testimony taken, the questions answered and the evidence on record and the investigation can move forth to completion for that full House vote you seem to be so desperate for, without an investigation.

If you wanted 'fairer' rules with regard to how these committees decide how subpoena powers are delegated, you should have discussed your concerns with House Speaker John Boehmer and the Republicans on the House Rules Committee in the 114th Congress. They are the ones that changed longstanding precedent that now allows the Committee chairs to issue subpoenas without a vote by the committee.

The house and the house rules say it’s fine. Who’s been anonymous? Were you bothered by closed door testimony when it was don JR?

Well, they still think they owe their slaves reparations, though no one living was one. They live in the past because they have nothing to speak of in the future but far left, lunacy.

The House is gathering as much information before deciding whether to write up articles of impeachment. If and when those articles are written up, then I am sure they will be presented to the full house, debated and voted on. It is up to the House to decide how to proceed. The good thing is that finally they are getting people to come in and testify so that they will get all the info they need to decide whether to impeach or not. They are doing a great job so far.

But behind closed doors with only one side allowed to being witnesses. It's a Star Chamber..

Are you also against transparency. concerned that the Republicans may use this to their advantage?

I have read the Constitution and probably know it better than you. Including the history surrounding it. I know leftist like to ignore history and precedent though... unless it suits their purpose.

You need me to explain to you how impeachment works? The house votes on articles, much like a grand jury. Then they hold the trial in the senate.
    That’s the point.

What you quoted was about the language in Article 2 about the House power to impeach. Your response was about leftists. What you quoted, asserted that the impeachment powers of the House included precedents both with and without a preliminary vote in the full house. Your response said not a word in rebuttal to that claim.

When you quote a post of mine, I expect that your response will reflect that content that you quoted. I am left to assume you concede on the points I made, and have nothing but partisan crap to offer in reply.

Oh look...an "I win" post.

When I quote a post of yours I will respond to what I feel should be responded to and I will respond to you how I feel like it. You don't get to dictate to me how I should respond to your posts.

The point is to investigate and document the President's abuse of power, obstruction of justice and contempt of Congress so that either the Senate or the voters can remove this man knowing the full scale of the corruption.

Whether either the Senate or the voters decide to keep or trash Trump, the public record needs to be clear, authoritative and thorough
on the scope of his conduct. These hearings accomplish that goal.

But shouldn't there be some evidence for any of those charges? There has been no abuse of power, no obstruction of justice and the great majority of the American people have a well deserved contempt of Congress. Where's the beef in this nothingburger?

And shouldn't all these investigations be open to the public? Should you not be told what's happening?

Yep its a blatant concession that my content was 100% correct in my post. You have no rebuttal at all. That's why you decided to dodge
and weave into familiar themes of ' leftist= baddie'

There is some, but far more may be available after the investigation is complete. That's why we are having committee meetings. I hope you will join me in reaching out to support the cooperation and participation of the White House with the subpoenas. so that we can get to the bottom of all of this and clear the air so that both the Senate and the voters can know exactly how much corruption there may be before either decides to remove him.
