I guess those folks in the heartland got tired of not getting free handout and decided Job and economic growth was a better option to Democratic welfare programs..

What bothers me is that such an idiot could get 43% of the American electorate. Of course when the alternative is shrieking hag hillary it's a little easier to understand. The real question is how such an idiot could get the republican nomination.

I can only wonder how many Democrats registered as Republicans and voted for Trump because they thought Hillary could beat him easier than any of the others. In 2016 I voted for Bernie in the Democrat primary. (Yes, I am a registered Democrat).

Under Obama, my raises at work were in the $0.10 to $0.25 cent range per year. In 2017 I got $1.50, 2018 $1.00 and 2019 $1.00. why wouldn't I vote for Trump next year with those kind of raises?

Good question. Knowing this happened would a. not be a surprise and b. make me feel better about our intelligence in general.

Do you have reason to think you would not have received those raises under shrillary? It's hard to think one could take a worse economic position than trump has.

I vote in the Democrat primary for the weakest candidate.

Ok then it's easy to see why you'd think dems are doing the same for their party - and refreshing that you'd admit trump was the weakest.

You really think they are concerned about trade wars when they are working and receiving a PAY CHECK every Friday, after EIGHT years of fighting for every scrap they could to make ends meet..

You Sir are out of touch with your nation and the people that populate it ;)

It was Obama's strangling regulations that kept my raises down. I have no reason to think that would change with Hillary. Obama was clear that his anemic economy was the "new normal". Obviously not.

p.s. if you respond I will be getting ready to go out and will respond when I return.

And of course as a typical leftist goes are unhappy with that :) I guess nothing under Mr. Obatard was better!

That's what irks me about leftist.. They only manage to see themselves as some bellwether for a nation.. The don't give consideration to those that a $240 a month might be enough to by more food, fuel their cars, pay for electricity and or heating how petty to demean a $1.50 just because it doesn't mean shlt to them and ignore millions that it might actually help.

Good ol leftist and the me-me-me they all stand for ¯\_(º¸º)_/¯

LOL, umm yes they are concerned. Unless they think the economy is not tied to their PAY CHECK.

Good question, and I think you would have to look at the field and what set Trump apart from it. That leaves several answers:

First and foremost, anti-establishment/anti-Washington fever. Trump was the only candidate who really tapped into that.

Second - and this was a big one - immigration. Going into the primaries all the Republicans could talk about was how they were going to cave into the Dems on amnesty. You don't hear any of that talk in the GOP anymore.

Third, some of the Republicans weren't strong candidates and some of them didn't run strong campaigns (like the one I supported).

Fourth, the size of the field spread the vote all over the place and split the anti-Trump vote.

Finally, I think his disregard for political correctness helped him.

Those are the main reasons in my mind. The Trumpeteers could probably point out a few more.

Good thoughts. Maybe a better question is how can we ensure we get a better candidate in the future? Trump was, by far, the worst of the bunch despite his position on immigration.

Apparently your point is that Americans are either uninformed or stupid. You could be right (see trump).

I know some Dems who voted for Rubio and Kasich in the hope of derailing Trump's candidacy.

    LOL

Stop voting the status status quo and vote for people that promote personal independence and not Government dependencies..

Coming from someone that doesn't take unemployment number in to account when talking pay checks :)

People are tired of the same old politics and false promises by every elected politician. Much of the nation is done with the dog and pony show we've had over the last 60+ years, hence why Trump was nominated and won.
