I may have misunderstood you, and if so, I apologize. I wouldn't want to be accusing anyone of being a willing stooge for low-brow "doublethink" tactics unless it were true. Conclusion: so far, if this 'Yovanovitch' ploy is the biggest deck-gun that Schiff has in his arsenal, then Trump's 'ship' has nothing to worry about. Oh, to be sure, the House will vote to impeach him -- purely because they have the numbers to do so. We've known that from the beginning.... At this point they just hate Trump's guts and they want revenge for Bill Clinton's being impeached 20 years ago for lying under oath and obstruction of justice. So be it... let them have their little victory dance around the campfire.
Yeah he resorted to extortion in the firing of someone he didn't need a reason to fire. Keep working on that house of cards.
I think it would be a dumb idea to attack her while testifying too, but Trump is very much welcome to take a seat right there and do such.
Sarcasm is hard to detect in a text format, but @Egoboy 's statement was absolutely dripping with sarcasm.
So you just dropped trying to find an Obama example? Good job. Now, Trump is free to fire her for any reason. But guess what? Congress is free to impeach him if the reason that he fired her is because two close associates funneled hundreds of thousands, illegally, into his Super PAC and lobbied him to fire her.
TY Yovanovitch is not even an impeachment witness, since she was not around during the aid freeze or the investigation asks... I think she's there just to provide general Ukraine background and point out how shitty she was treated... Sad, but won't move any needles on impeachment... Barring what the OMB guy (Mark Sandy) says to the House in his deposition tomorrow, the only 2 major witnesses I want to see is Sondland and Hill... Sondland could be in a world of hurt (from both sides) and Hill can generally speak to Bolton's reactions.. The rest is likely fluff... This has little to do with revenge, although as my son pointed out to me last night, if Trump was liked, he might be more likely to get a pass.. He's not, so he won't..
No, I already gave the example of Obama firing all Bush ambassadors for political reasons. The point is perfectly clear. No, Congress can't impeach him for exercising his right to fire anyone for any reason. You guys tried this with Comey. This will work just as well.
You stopped trying to find an example and thought hand waving to Obama firing all of the diplomats in one swoop was a justifiable response. That's fine. You still gave up. It's OK. Congress can impeach him for walking across the street improperly. But here, the firing of an ambassador because of allegations that the State Department knew to be false at the time of the firing is much more worthy justifiable.
I added the LOL to help out... I was a little shocked to find there are people who really think anything having to do with the Ambassador's firing will be an article of impeachment. It might be mentioned somewhere in the bottom of one of them, but it's not impeachable on it's face.. Ooops... she's walking back in... get ready for the R's counsel.... I hope he's better prepared than Wednesday...
Schiff is going to have to turn up a LOT more than he has to get there. Nothing today has advance anything towards an impeachment.
The Democrats are going to be in a world of hurt come 2020 because of them impeaching an innocent President based purely on political hatred and losing the 2016 election. How can you slept at night?
Now Schiff for brains will not allow the Republican side to use their time as the democrats did by not allowing them to apportion time to their own members for questions. This is really a dem clown show.
Of course it is a justifiable response. One which you know is justifiable based on your desire to ignore it. Ambassadors can be fired by the POTUS at any time, for any reason. He could have fired Yavanovitch because he didn't like her face if he wanted to. In much the same way Obama could appoint his bundlers and personal donors to ambassadorships: https://www.opensecrets.org/obama/ambassadors.php ..Trump can fire them for any reason. No, Congress cannot impeach him for walking across the street improperly. You may want to try reading the Constitution and a legal book sometime.
That was hilarious. Nunes tried to recognize Stefanik during the 45 minute block when only he or counsel can be recognized. Schiff shut that down super fast.
That's the rules of this proceeding. During the 45 minute blocks, only lead member or counsel can ask questions.
Hard to allow questioning when Schiff for brains doesn't allow republicans to control their own time.
