Prosperity gospel is just another scheme to enrich the priestly class for their own greed . Greedy people will even use religion to become rich. They dont pay attention to what christ taught about the rich. The role of christ was to inform man of how to reconcile with their creator. This required a change in consciousness that happened after the death of the existing consciousness of humanity. Other religions have something like this enlightenment deal. It is so common that aldous Huxley called it the perennial philosophy.
Well, you should study the Nativity story, and Luke's - and see the right muddle they get into. And the OT prophecies are taken out of context. And 'Matthew'could remember to Sermon on the Mount verbatim? Their Genealogies are wrong. On top of that they both go back to Abraham and yet leave out 400 years of generations if the Hebrews were in Egypt. Of course, missing this shows that the Hebrews were not in Egypt anyway.
No, back then the only option for a widow was starvation or prostitution. Such a marriage was the humane thing. Context is everything. Why do you care?
Widows could remarry. The only person she could not marry was the High Priest - who must marry a virgin. Levirate marriage was for those who needed to produce a son to keep the family name. Special provisions were in place for widows and orphans who had no-family to marry. Levirate marriage later included extended members of the family - Boaz and Ruth.
You do have a good point I have to admit! This near death experiencer could really mess up Christianity: www.ThomasTwin.com/
Possibly, but you stated Her options, but did not include remarriage. Not only that widows who were still young and without children were quite acceptable. .
In that culture, an older woman who had already been married was seen as "used goods". The ideal wife material men sought would have been a virgin. It's still this way in many parts of the Middle East. It made sense to take one's brother's wife in the sense that at least the other man who defiled her was related to you, so it wouldn't be seen as a disgusting stranger who had gone into her. More palatable than taking a woman who had been married to some other man. Why don't we replace marrying with taking her inside one's household? That was the real message.
Why don't you want to follow the rules? If you want to be considered a believer then you have to obey all of the rules, without exception. Remember Saul. When he wanted to make up his own rule and show a little mercy, the God character got really ticked off at him. And Jesus said that if you don't follow all of his rules that he will have you thrown into the fire and roasted. Is that what you want for yourself?
Can I use a little analogy for you? How many laws do you have to break to go to jail? Only 1, right? Why would you complain about something from Jesus when you yourself support that same type of system, when it comes to the governance of men?
Because I'm not a member of the now defunct OT theocracy of Israel, for whom these rules were intended.
If you really sought and learned for yourself you'll understand the above is just one of his many attributes. He is also the "Lion of Judah". Prosperity theology is nowhere in the Bible. Render unto Caesar what is Caesars......it is to the individual to help the poor. It amazes me how many billionaires who have their money sheltered in Trusts, call for higher taxes on the "rich". We know that means "all of us". Nothing in the world is stopping those individuals from giving their billions to the poor, but they want the hand of government to take from us all. They are charlatans. They don't help the poor by their own volition. Jesus wants us to give from the heart, not at the point of a gun. Government takes 70% in administrative costs to give 30% to the poor. How do you think bureaucrats and politicians get so wealthy? It reminds me of when Jesus cleared out the money changers.....
You hit the nail right on the head with the last statement. Progressives do not admit they are flawed and that is why we are governed by a Constitution.....not a dictator. We constantly reference our Constitution while Progressives want to subvert it.
Those that study His revealed Word, do not deny Him but seek His nature, have a reasonably good idea. Jesus said He would send His Spirit as a teach into all things. No scripture is of a private interpretation. There is generally a consensus among the Body of Christ. Mankind always wants it spelled out for them in the form of a law so they can be prideful in their interpretation of that. That is the lesson of the O.T. Jesus said "Seek 1st the Kingdom of God and all this will be added to you.
That's true. It would be my argument that Jesus teaches that life is short and we are not privy to when it will end. We should life as though life on earth isn't the important thing, and that we should be living our lives in light of eternity. To that end how government operates is pretty inconsequential.
'In the same way let you good deeds shine out for all to see that men may glorify your heavenly father'. Life for the Christian isn't important in God's eyes?
The Jesus character said that you shouldn't try to get rich rich and that you shouldn't worry about what you will eat or wear in the future. So why do you violate his commandments if you claim to follow him? don't those rules apply to you if you claim to be a Christian?
