Melania Trump booed at youth opioid summit in Baltimore

Apparently, she took the booing quite amicably and even responded with "We live in a democracy and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the fact is we have a serious crisis in our country and I remain committed to educating children on the dangers and deadly consequences of drug abuse.".

And blaming Melania for Trump's behavior is like blaming Jacklyn Kennedy for JFK's cheating ways.

Melania should have chosen a different place to visit. After your husband insults the city and Mr. Cummings, they weren't going to be welcoming to her.

It's a trend which goes back to the Elder Bush, but the best example of it is Trump. How else do you explain the evangelicals embrace of him, and vice versa?

Melania is being booed because it's the nature of the left to be the degenerate slobs that they are, without respect for anything other than their own degenerate political views. Nothing in your post changes that dynamic, because nothing in your post addresses the degenerate nature of the left.

 

I think that whoever holds the office of President, and whoever is First Lady, are entitled to enjoy an initial level of respect as a consequence of the office they hold. By their actions and words they might deserve to lose that respect, but there should be an initial presumption of respect.

I can't think of any First Lady that has acted in a way to dishonor her role. All First Ladies that I can think of, going back to Rosalynn Carter, have acted with dignity and class deserving of the role. Including Melania Trump. Regardless of who she married or the reasons she married him.

One might disagree with certain Presidents over policy, but again all Presidents going back to Jimmy Carter have shown their respect for the office. One might say that Clinton exhibited some disrespect for the office in certain things that he did privately, but in acting as President, he was "Presidential".

Until Trump. Trump is disrespectful to the office of the Presidency. He shows this nearly every day, through his disrespect for the rule of law, cozying up to dictators and enemies, resorting to childish name-calling of anyone who doesn't support him. He has disrespected the office and deserves no respect from the citizens (or, frankly, the world).

 

I refer you to post 201 in this thread and invite you to agree that that post is an example of "the degenerate nature of Trump supporters".

 

Both offices (unofficial as one may be) warrant respect, of course. Trump has certainly squandered his, and Melania loses hers by proxy I’m afraid. As I said before, you can’t be married to stank and expect to come off smelling like a rose.

 

I’d agree. I’m from the south as well, by geography only though. I don’t really count Florida as southern socially. Still, I met my fair share of kind southerners.
