There are 23 No's and 17 Ayes. The amendment is denied. I am curious which Democrat did not vote, but I imagine that they were out somewhere else.

There is now a new amendment from Gaetz to strike a portion of the article to remove a reference to Joe Biden and replace it with a reference to Burisma Oil and Hunter Biden.

Isn't that what the accusation was after it was quid pro quo?

Let me guess.... 24 no, 17 yes??

    Keep us posted!

LOL... per Vindman, didn't they change Zelensky mentioning Burisma (Gas, not oil) to "the company" in the call rough notes?

NOW they want Burisma out there??

23 No, 17. One of the Democrats wasn't in the room (still trying to figure out whom).

As a hilarious point, the first Democrat to speak right after Gaetz "explained" his new amendment by discussing Hunter Biden's drug problem referenced the "pot calling the kettle black." Gaetz was arrested for DUI.

    LOL

well, I don't know how happy of an ending losing an election and your seat is. That said, I doubt they are dumb enough to make any explicit offers, because that would be bribery. I don't doubt that they would lobby the individuals in hopes that they vote the desired way.

Gaetz also largely owes his seat in Congress to his father's influence. His father was a powerful Florida State legislator.

Drug problem? WTF would that have to do with anything?

Republican behavior in all House committee's is just sad.... that some Americans think these are the people who should represent them.

I don't love many of the D's either, but they aren't making fools out of themselves daily..

Oh I don't know a crackhead that daddy got him a job with an oil company to get influence to the highest level our government, his daddy. We get it the Bidens are dems so they can't be corrupt and of course could never be even be investigated lol. The republicans have torn this thing apart today to the point it's embarrassing listening to the desperate dems talk about how so and so heard, presumed or felt so it's fact. They've even gone so far to insinuate that the President of Ukraine is a liar. Thank you libs you literally have done a great job with this and the senate is going to eat this up!

A majority supports the impeachment inquiry.

A plurality supports the impeachment and removal.

Not removal, and that's the bottom line, you folks failed, miserably. If you don't drop this you'll lose the House, I'm all for you going forward...

    The Senate won't do anything.

They won't call any witnesses (on their fantasy wish list).

They will go through the motions and acquit Trump.

A plurality of the American Public supports the removal of Trump.

And no, the Democrats are very much unlikely to lose the house based on impeachment. But the Republican's desperation associated with the "toss me in the briar patch" talking point is palpable.

A majority of Congress*, as determined by an overwhelming majority of the American People in 2018, is a virtual certainty

I believe it was. I suspect they dropped it because that would invite a comparison of its usage and meaning in the Constitution with the federal statutes on bribery today. Remember, they are seeking to remove him from office, not to criminally prosecute him.

According to what? Every poll I've seen says otherwise. More importantly, the swing states that put Trump in office disagree. Your 'plurality' is irrelevant if its mostly from CA and NY, the country isn't ruled by them...

That's simply untrue, while you can throw some interesting numbers around, basic analysis disproves your theory...

Then present it because House Democrats earned approximately 8.7% more of the vote than House Republicans. They currently hold a 235-199 majority.
