Down from 86% disapproval 9% approval in 2013. Americans consistently dismiss Congress as pond scum. The minor variations in the numbers are probably generated by sampling disparity. "2013 Nov 7-10 9 86 5" https://news.gallup.com/poll/1600/congress-public.aspx
Honestly, I think it takes a special (special needs?) person to have the patience to be a member of congress, so much gum flapping and nothing gets done. When I do watch things like the impeachment debates I struggle to pay attention for more than about 6 minutes, so-dam-boring.
72% of Americans disapprove of Congress 28% of Americans have no idea about what their federal government does.
Seeing that the White House and office of the Vice President are blocking people with more than an “opinion” I would say absolutely. That alone proves obstruction.
well then based on my results, from my previous post, more voters voted for someone other than Clinton as well. Popular vote 62,984,828 Trump 65,853,514 Clinton Gary Johnson 4,489,235 <my vote is somewhere in that pile of chads. Stein 1,457,226 McMullin 732,273 Boaty McBoatface 453,880 <I'm curious if there is a list of the write-ins and see how many Boaty's were written in.
I couldn't' bring myself to vote for either candidate and Johnson seemed slightly more sane (although slightly less intelligent) than Stein, I should have written in boaty mcboatface. I also know that a lot of loyal Pubs in Illinois (my home state) don't even bother since they know its useless, so i'm sure there are quite a few in Cali as well. I'm kind of glad i'm in a purple state, makes my vote seem slightly more important. Either way, Clinton/Trump had zero chance with me. I doubt that i'll go 3rd party this time. Side note: i'm surprised that McMulin got 700K, he wasn't even on my Florida ballot IIRC.
Now you resort to 'whataboutism', weren't you recently whining about conservatives doing that by mentioning the huge steaming pile of failure that was the Obama presidency?
Depending on how the poll is taken, Congress' favorability ratings has been in the low teens for years.
Personally I like the current system, I'd rather pursue legitimizing Independent as a viable 3rd party in every state. I'd donate to that cause.
This is just the way people are. We all hate Congress, yet we overwhelmingly vote for our current Congressmen in the next election. Current Congressmen rarely lose an election, most retire or go to higher office. We blame the dysfunction in Congress on the other Congressmen, not ours.
GHW Bush was elected President. If it weren't for Ross Perot, he probably would have won his second term.
Yet none of them -are- "false." Sorry you can't distinguish the actual definition as described in your own source, "containing a fallacy, logically unsound, from 'false'." Nor, apparently can the makers or whatever dictionary you are using because "fallacious" is not a synonym of "false." Moreover, as I have to point out frequently to Leftists here and never anyone else (because it's common knowledge), dictionaries are not authoritative sources of anything. Why is it that you LW can't seem to grasp that? Rest of post is blablabla. You tossed an obvious, puerile, fallacious red herring, got called on it, and are now flailing around trying to rationalize. Not surprised.
In normal times the disapproval is higher than that. Yet most times these fickle american voters will send their own politicians back. So theirs is good but other states contain all the idiot voters! How do horrible encumbents keep returning? Is the system rigged to help insure this? It is rigged to keeo a 3rd party out, just listen to Nader.
It would probably be very interesting to watch what our Congress Critters do when the cameras are off while they actively stuff loot into their pockets. Of course that part is seldom televised. “The system is functioning precisely how they want it to function. Gridlock, complex laws, highly technical bills, and regulations that target specific groups have a commercial purpose for the Permanent Political Class.” EXTORTION, "How Politicians Extract Your money, Buy Votes, And Line Their Own Pockets, Peter Schweizer, HMO, NY, NY, 2013, p. 8.
Just curious..... Did you consider the houses inquiry into impeachment fair? Trump could not have a lawyer present. Schiff did not allow republicans to call any whitenesses. Schiff decided what questions could be asked & if he didn’t like it, the question was canceled. Is that your idea of justice?
Correct me if I am wrong but I believe they followed house rules as confirmed by Republicans during the Obama administration. See above Again, correct me if I am wrong, but Republicans called two witnesses When Republicans started acting in bad faith I can understand why he did this. Again, is this against previously set house rules? You don’t want to know what my idea of justice is. It isn’t a run away deficit that is ignored unless it is on the campaign trail, it isn’t in a presidency that has set out to completely undermine and destroy every institution we have, it isn’t in a man that uses the office to mock and ridicule those who disagree with him while he shamelessly promotes his brand,
Schiff made up the rules & why would the republicans set impeachment rules under Obama when there was no talk of impeachment? I would welcome you attach a article on that. Who were the 2 people you said the republicans called to testify during the impeachment inquiry? Why couldn’t they call a witnesses of their choice? Democrats can only blame Adam Schiff if they don’t get a fair trial in the senate. The one sided Schiff circus gives the senate a good excuse not to do anything to help the democrats. You could also go back and look at the comments Nadler and Pelosi and Schumer made during the Clinton impeachment to show What hypocrites they are today. I am hoping we get to hear from Schiff, the whistleblower and the Bidens during the senate trial.
They sadly think they have the moral high ground when in reality they are at the same level as trump. Difference being that Trump doesn’t pretend to be a good guy, he is openly who he is.
