I don't agree with anything you said, but I do appreciate you posting that since I always find it helpful to get a glimpse at how the left thinks.

 

They are good allies to the Iranians, although sort of undercover ones. It's a typical European play. They vote for sanctions, and then violate sanctions and help their companies violate sanctions. They hope in this way they buy protection. It's a modern version of paying the danegeld only in this case, the Germans are making money on the deal as well.

Enemy? we are not at war in Iraq. And he was not on a battlefield. Look, this was an effective move eliminating a singular effective opponent. But we are not at war with Iran and he was a political leader. This is not taking out a terrorist without a country like Ben Laden. This is a giant provocation and in no way leads to peace.

I think it's ridiculous to try to draw a comparison between Vietnam and the Middle East. Like I said, I disagree with everything you said in that comment. There are people in Vietnam alive now who've lost family members to US forces and they are not conducting terrorist attacks against American tourists or expats. We've fought very bloody wars against the Germans and Japanese in living memory and have excellent relationships with both countries (@Sobo excluded of course!).

Meanwhile the Middle East kinship societies hold centuries of grudges and are unable to form real (in the Western sense) nations as a result. But like I said, I found your perspective very interesting and it was enlightening on how leftist foreign policy constantly manages to get things wrong.

Beside that you say Iran is not a real nation? Iran is one of the oldest nations on this planet with nationship predating any western country. Its the only nation in the middle east in that aspect.

Germany has a very long history with Iran.

You know Iran always supported Germany. And even after WW II, it was first country of the world, that reached its hand to us.

Iranian jews are extremly loyal to their nation and even denied emigration offers into Israel.

You know Germany and France were mortal enemies for hundreds of years. And in the end both realized that all this wars we fight with each other lead to nothing but ruin on both sides.
