But they do have a say on releasing the charges. More and more evidence is coming out weekly and more and more republicans are denouncing the Mitch’s tactics. Only 18 are needed.

I see what you're getting at.

I seem to remember when Trump was elected, you Democrats have hoped against hope that the electorates will de-elect Trump.

    Do you remember that? :juggle:

Take notes boys because what you are seeing is the death knell of the Republic. This has been festering for a hundred years but the time of the death is near.

First you have get the votes to 'dismiss' a charge that has never been filed I highly doubt you can, but if you do it represents a victory, not a defeat for the House because if the senate 'deems' the articles to be received , in order to consider and dismiss them, then the republicans must recognize that the President was formally impeached.

So the President has been impeached, but not exonerated, or acquitted after a trial, due lack of adequate representation or counsel. The impeachment stands unrebutted by the President's attorney.

In effect, the House did everything that they realistically intended. They knew the President could never get convicted and that a fair trial would be sabotaged by Moscow Mitch, but they nevertheless established a public record of his crimes, in the House record for posterity, and provided a legal roadmap for the enforcement of the congressional subpoena powers. They uncovered a series of duplicitous and coordinated acts to coerce a foreign power to interfere in our elections for the Presidents personal gain and another series to obstruct a congressional investigation into those acts. The charges in the indictment were dismissed and the case was never tried in court.

It was the best result that we could realistically get

Actually, you didn't. I asked how you would proceed at this point, not how you would have done it differently from the start.

As for GOPers joining Pelosi in destroying Trump, you and I both know that isn't true. If they had wanted to get to the truth they would have asked actual questions of the witnesses rather than use their time to grandstand and make their own points.

It is useless to axe the Democrats to slow down and take stock in the situation they got themselves into. Ah well, November 3rd is right around the corner and this brilliant strategy will either backfire or backfire big. So consoling themselves that President Trump was impeached the Democrats will, for four more years.

I'm feeling generous, so she can stay as a minority leader for as long as she likes.

Sounds reminiscent to what happen in the house during the articles of impeachment. The democrats what nothing to do with a fair hearing during the house investigation and are now demanding one. Somewhat like when they created the nuclear option and cried fowl when it was used against them. Democrats, the party of hypocrisy!

Simple; anyone with integrity would simply admit to having screwed up the impeachment process big time, apologize to the nation for having wasted their time, and then resign; but since instead we are talking about Nancy Pelosi she is simply going to double down on being stupid . . . and you can't fix stupid.

The Senate can really do what ever they want when it comes to impeachment There are no real formal rules here.

That would make sense and work, if Nancy sent the articles over right away or sooner. But she didn't. So that is going to show that this is a all a game.

The Senate can really do what ever the want. There are no real formal rules here. All the Senate is required to do is to bring to trial. Nancy's strategy is backing firing as this whole thing is just showing the everyone that impeachment is just political.
