Its also true that while this impeachment proceeding provides him a certain protection on similar charges directly relating to his conduct in these articles, it does not protect any of the coven of 'advisors'; or staff that broke laws to pursue his goals . Rudy and friends are still on the hook for these allegations.

Okay...they did not have access to Bolton and they did not know that Parnas was willing to testify. Do you think it is important that the Senate hear from them, and even Mulvaney and Guiliani and.....the list is endless, but you can restrict your response to Parnas and Bolton?

Idgaf what Bolton says. Not only could he have told them whatever he wanted whenever he wanted, Im certain its all 100% whatever he thinks has the best chances of starting a war somewhere, not anything resembling the truth. Trump never should've hired that pos and we all said so from the beginning. He's a MIC shill and nothing more his entire career.

If Parnas was willing to testify, why didn't 'they know?' I call BS. Sounds like a game to me.

And ftr I don't trust McConnell much farther than I can throw him either. He's made a career out of holding his finger to the wind. The wind is that his constituents like Trump.

The bottom line is that democrats killed their chances of convincing me that Trump committed a crime when they announced they were seeking impeachment before Trump had even taken the oath of office. If a judge was wearing a KKK hood while hearing a black mans trial, would you really be concerned with what the prosecution said? Its a kangaroo court either way.

Nah, you are looking for excuses which have nothing to do with where we are now. This Trial begins in 24 hours. Will it be a farce, or will it be a search for the truth.

I agree with most of that. As for the last part - I expect McConnell to suppress any additional information that could damage Trump. He is not interested in a search for the truth. He is interested in protecting Trump - not the Constitution.

As you roll on the floor reflect that the rules the House used were the ones adopted by the then Republican lead House for the Benghazi investigations.

There were many claims by Republicans about unfairness but when pressed for specifics none were forthcoming. They wanted a circus to distract from the content.

I'm betting on farce. Followed by Trump unleashed, buyers remorse for Republican senators as they realize what they've done and then more and more revelations becoming public culminating with his tax returns in the spring.
Their and our only hope is that prior to the vote Trump signs an agreement that he not use National security to justify any actions until he has signed approval by the Senate and no more executive orders.

Upon reflection. The Democrats have the real dirt stashed in waiting. They've seen his tax returns and know what they'll be exposing, who knows, a few hundred million in Russian loans maybe? Or perhaps Lev or someone else produces a recording of Trump saying "He doesn't have to investigate Biden, I just need him to say he's investigating Biden and I want to see it on CNN". Anyway, they've known all along that Trump is toast and by doing this impeachment knowing full well that Mitch, who is up for reelection, would behave just as he has. Come election time a key campaign point will be Republicans in the House and Senate had a chance to do something and they sold out America in favor of party over country.
They' re not just after Trump, they want super majorities.

    Mitch McConnell lied?? Imagine...

As the saying goes, if his lips are moving...

He was directed by the defendant to get this done by the SOTU address.. so that is what he must do...

Well, the best news in this rules package is the defense only needs 24 hours to say the following:

    - Trump did everything he's accused of
    - It's no longer considered wrong
    - It's not impeachable
    - Get over it
    - The economy

I just read the 3.25 page "rules" package... not much to that sucker....

I think the interesting thing, and I don't know if it follows the "Clinton model" or not, is that any witnesses must be deposed first, which I fully agree with. Neither side wants a loose cannon in there mucking up the works (talking to you, Walrus Man).

Even the time to do depositions will destroy the SOTU deadline for Mitch, so this pretty much guarantees they won't have any.

Sham Trial is now a lock. Enjoy your cover-up, America.... remember this next November.

Yawn your differences are inconsequential and it's the basic format just like the Clinton impeachment. I wonder if you'll call him a liar if he let's the witnesses on TV vs behind closed doors. Trust me we already know you'll whine the whole way with half baked excuses of why he wasn't found guilty the whole trial, might as well get your candidates back on the trail before super Tuesday, they'll have a ton to make up after this.

The list is endless on both sides and the dems have candidates that don't need to be tied up until the convention. It's exactly why the house should've have done their job, but the didn't.

Well, if you are so Merry, why all the complaining about McConnell's rules? As for me, I think he will treat the Senate exactly like the House treated their duties.
Now we both will are happy and there will be no further whining needed.

Yes, the evidence was so so damning that public support for impeachment went down after it was viewed. lol

It went up significantly from before the impeachment was announced.

Yet you gloated and defended the actions of Schiff & Co when you said it was their House, their rules.

And those who complained have a chance to show if they’re hypocrites or just complainers.
