Not for this trial nor for all future trials. Controlling house will now merely need to create assertions and then vote to impeach since no high crime is necessary. The partisan voting should be extremely apparent to you.

The motion is tabled 53-47, and now a new Amendment for more documents is being read.

    Yep.

.... and since all Americans are Innocent until proven guilty. It's over before it starts as there are no crimes to be guilty of. This is such a joke. I crack up at those Leftists taking this seriously.

Impeachment has never required a crime and I gladly accept the (non-existent) increased risk of impeachment.

The limiting factor is public support. During the tenure of every President, support for Impeachment will get to at least 25-30%. The fact that the support for impeachment of Trump got to 50% this quickly is because he ****ed up so thoroughly and got caught ****ing up.

McConnell has signaled that he will make a motion to table the new amendment (another request for subpoena for more documents) once they return from the recess. There is little reason to believe the result will differ from the previous amendment.

Could you please list all the impeachments prior to this one that did not revolve around a crime?

Well, I would dispute the notion that this Impeachment does not revolve around a crime. But all of the previous Impeachment Proceedings also involved crimes.

An impeachment process is not a court trial. Similar, but there are some significant differences. Specifically that the House Democrats were to have their entire prosecution package together and ready to go before they voted to impeach and send to the Senate (jury).

    Lesson learned.

Then why not list crimes in these articles if you say, and Adam state were crimes committed? Schiff stated he has empirical evidence, not only here, but during the Muller report of collusion.

No, they 24 hours to present all the evidence they collected in the House. Then Trump's attorneys get 24 hours for defense.

Here's the interesting situation: Whereas the House pretty much gave up due to their pre-set deadline of December, the Trump Team is aware of exculpatory evidence that it has in its own possession. The defense has the opportunity to hammer Dems on their mistake.

@bx4 is referencing the fact that the original rules (released 24 hours ago and amended in the last few hours) would not, and indeed still does not, automatically permit the House Record into the evidentiary record.

None of the trial should be in the Senate. Just the prosecutors presented the facts they previously collected.

And then the jury asks questions if they have any and take a vote on guilt or innocence. Then wrap everything up with a bow and a box of gold Sharpies.

    Live and learn.

So the DNC. Gotcha. Those two sites were the same ones giving Trump a 2% chance of winning on the day of the election, and had democrats winning the House and Senate. They also projected Trump to have like 180 EC votes.

I just got back from running a couple errands. Sounds like they did vote to give each side 3 days instead of 2 days to make their respective cases. There goes all the grumbling about "midnight" Mitch.

Guess the House should have waited, huh? They didn't have any deadline, except one which was self-imposed.

And currently, the NO's have it from there for removal. Gallup has a 5 point swing.

All I heard in the opening statements was the Democrats whining as if the dog ate their homework which they didn't finish and begging for more time to do their jobs. Trump's team started straight in on his defense, and sound like they are prepared.

Besides the fact that this isn't the same as a court trial, new evidence cannot be introduced without the prosecution sharing that new info with the defense (or vice versa)...and the new information very often delays the trial and pushes it to restart at a later date down the road. At minimum, it has to be deemed admissible or not.

Dems should have waited. They aren't ready for today.

Whether you think the trial should or shouldn't be in the senate is irrelevant.

    Per the Constitution:
    The House investigates and impeaches.
    The Senate conducts the trial.

There is nothing anywhere that precludes the introduction of new evidence and witnesses at trial.

You know the Democrats are losing when they are self-servingly declaring what the Preisdent "knows" and "thinks" and then self-servingly argue against it.

That is a new concept. Has never happened before. Every previous impeachment trial has had new evidence and live witnesses.

Mitch is suppressing the search for truth.
