This comes as a surprise as I thought Bloomers could financially afford to be in it until the end. I'm also surprised that he would endorse Biden, especially since Bloomers has conservative ideals for the most part. But at least we can say that the DNC most likely didn't buy him off, I mean, what can anyone offer a multi billionaire?
He will stay in it until the end - now in support of Biden instead of himself. He'll have to do it legally, through a PAC-like structure rather than just giving the money to Biden's campaign. His conservative ideals are precisely why he is endorsing Biden. Biden is not very "left", and Bloomberg's main objective is to beat Trump, whose policies are all over the place. Some could be considered conservative, some are quite "left". I won't say Trump has any "ideals" because he doesn't really have any, other than doing everything he can to shovel money into his pocket and to feed his ego.
Yesssssss . . . we have to watch Trump because he is quite capable of entering the presidency as the lowest possible sort of millionaire and then exit it eight years later with a cool -- absolutely NO questions asked -- forty million dollars in his pocket with mansions mysteriously turning up in various localities around the nation. That . . . would . . . be . . . bad.
Yep, it took me by surprise as well. Someone said that Bloomberg would have to go that legal PAC route to funnel huge money into Biden's campaign, but what if instead he sends monetary 'gifts' to the DNC? After all its none of his business what the DNC decides to do with any money that they get gifted.
I guess its a good thing I didn't spend a lot of time worrying about his positions on things. Looks like Bernie has his work cut out for him, and I'm expecting things to get a bit ugly, Bernie's not going to back down.
slide-whistle. Part of me really wants Bernie to win, but realistically, for things to move ahead for the Dems and the left in a much more cohesive way, Biden needs to make the run and lose. Plus, if all the signs are right, and there is a recession coming in the next term, then it's better for the Dems that Trump stay in the WH because if Bernie won, and it happened, he would be blamed for it immediately and with much fervor. But that said, I doubt Ginsberg will last another term, so that's another consideration. Ugh. No good choices abound here.
Yes, but remember that this is the same Bernie that ultimately sold out his rabid followers back in 2016 and -- mysteriously -- immediately got a little wealthier. By selling out for a second and last time he could get much Much wealthier. Dangling easy money in front of a true socialist for selling out his people? Be careful that he doesn't take your hand off as he snatches for that money resting in your palm.
Michael Bloomberg Ends Presidential Bid, Endorses Joe Biden Thank God. If running a campaign is any indication of his ability to run a country then America just won. During his tenure nearly 94% of the dem advertising spending was from Mini Mike yet he only received 4% of the delegates. With returns like this then one must wonder how in the hell did Bloomberg become a billionaire in the first place? “Since his announcement the week of November 25 2019, Bloomberg has spent an average of $37.4M/week on TV, radio, and digital (he was only off air the week of Christmas)... only two candidates have spent more during their entire campaigns than Bloomberg is averaging per week,” the analysis added.
I don't see a connection, but its not important to be honest. He was "beat" by votes and severely beaten by super-delegates, supporting clinton at that point was probably the same thing I would have done so I don't see any surprise or conspiracy. If he loses out to biden he'll likely do the same thing again and offer his support or endorsement. This should not be a big surprise.
She's obviously not a viable candidate but she still has a role to play-siphoning off voters from Bernie Sanders.
I think she could make sense for Biden. For Berie, she isnt additive at all in my opinion, he should maybe pick a more moderate or minority candidate.
he was more moderate (or at least appeared to be) as the VP, which is one of the reasons that I said early on that i'd at least hear him out if he won the nomination. Since that point, he's jumped plenty left AND appears to have lost it mentally, he went from 'due consideration' to about a 1% chance that I'd vote for him and that number may go lower. Unless something dramatic changes, i'm thinking I won't even have to watch the debates when the dust settles.
He was going nowhere and would have had no leverage at the convention. His goal is to defeat Trump not necessarily elect Biden.
Haven't we seen after Clinton/Trump and now Bloomberg/Sanders/Warren and Biden that it's not just who spends the most?
