Well, according to your chart Medicare and Medicaid are combined in the Major Health Care Programs so we can cut the Medicaid part out and then we can completely eliminate the Income Security part. That’s a savings of almost $1 trillion per year. That’s our deficit without even touching the tariff income from China and the new USMCA. Then we can add the revenue from the sale of all our out of date military equipment and firepower that Trump is pushing on our allies.

Obamacare Medicaid expansion, the food stamp explosion, free phones, free lunches etc.

I don't know if you ever saw this in your city, but we had a couple people that stood outside the library for probably a year signing people up for free crap, they must have solicited me 10 times and I'm in a middle income section, they likely did really well in the low income areas.

they advertised on TV to give away free stuff.

not to mention the tons of people on disability now, that's a whole new thread.

Your employer pays unemployment insurance and you would take that money, again overwhelmingly paid for by the middle class and working poor. And there is no savings because how can they collect more? If they announce no more social security payments do you think they could get away with continuing to withhold SS from your paycheck? It'd be the same for unemployment, no payouts no more coming in.

Kill Medicaid. Very Christian of you. While you're at it no school lunches either. All to give someone a tax reduction to use on upgrading his gold plated bidets in the cabin to solid gold ones. Oh how they suffer.

Medicare and social security aren't entitlements. They are programs payed for specifically by FICA taxes. Poorly mananged for sure but not entitlements.

Look up what an entitlement is.
SS and Medicare and Unemployment are all entitlements that you pay into.

Someone a tax reduction? Every single employed American pays 7.65% of their income to Social Security up to the first $139,200 of income. It doesn’t matter if you’re making minimum wage at McDonalds or a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, if you’re employed you’re paying.

Correct, employer burden does include paying unemployment taxes on employee wages. For the first $7000 of employee annual income an employer pays around 1.4% federal unemployment and 2.6% state unemployment (some state higher, usually blue states).

BTW I’m posting about Income Security and Medicaid not Social Security benefits and Medicare.

Corrupt demented joe 30330 has been advocating cutting Medicare & Social Security for 40 years. Comrade bernie has been running ads with video of joe 30330 saying that exact thing. I would trust President Trump much more on this issue.

It would be the kindest thing to be done for the poor. Medicaid is a boondoggle of very high cost administratively as doctor reimbursements are very low and very few "good" doctors accept it, & very poor care. Better those people get a free obozocare private insurer policy.

Your first point. 10 Minimum wage workers pay as much into social security as Oprah does. 2 middle class workers pay as much as Bill Gates. Numbers wise there are far more McDonalds workers than their are people in Oprah's pay scale so you can see why it is that the middle class and working poor pay the bulk of SS funds.

Income security is better known as unemployment benefits and as you say we all pay into it, that McDonalds worker paying in just as much as Warren Buffet. Stop paying unemployment the government has to stop collecting it so no budget savings by cutting it.

Of cousre you could take away those hefty tax break you gave to the Oprahs and Musks if you want to lower the deficit. Of perhaps take a look at discretionary spending

I wish he would eliminate the SS option for me and write me a check for the millions it would have been had I had it to invest.

    What tax break? 03ab228c.gif

Before you make the mistake of claiming they got a meaningful tax cut that they did not get as the top rates stayed the same plus many deductions were phased out for hi earners, keep in mind it's THEIR MONEY. It's not the government's money to be redistributed to losers.

    Trump supporters wouldnt care.

Trump WASNT wrong when he said he could shoot someone in the middle of 5th avenue and his supporters would still back him.

Heck, as long as it were a brown person, they would probably cheer him on.

No, you get a return on your investment. Anyone that thinks paying taxes, and then when you reach the requirments the law requires to be entitled to a benefit, is akin to an investment.....really has no clue.

He will win. Those involved in hero worship are more concerned with their hero than with their own benefits. The US electorate lives an illusion.

You'd think wouldn't you? Sadly the Republican leadership uses the word so they don't have to say straight out that they're cutting SS and Medicare.

One of the facts that this story reveals is something that has long been reported.

Trump is tremendously susceptible to just agreeing with the most recent policy position provided to him by someone that he feels is a friend. He has zero interest or ability to understand a complex policy position, so when someone that he believes is a friend suggests a policy position - even one that is objectively a politically damaging idea like agreeing to cutting entitlements during an election year - he is just going to agree.

...you think the line on whether something is socialism or not is where you need to participate to benefit?

What percentage of the discretionary budget (i.e. something he could actually cut without significant legislative action) is made up of Homeland Security and the Military?

Thank you for that insight and for your continued support of the clueless!

Obviously it is a tax, my statement was more of a philosophical thought rather than what SS actually is. When people imply that retired workers (who paid into SS) drawing SS are on entitlements just like some welfare queen who never contributed anything to the system, well, they are wrong, and that was the point.

I will be honest enough to admit that I did not know exactly what the "Income Security Program" is. At first blush, it sounded like a joke, or some kind of scam. It isn't! It does exist!

Here's a link to the definitive source of information for what this rather opaque "Income Security Program" is, what it covers, and, who pays for it: https://www.ncpssm.org/documents/social-security-facts/federal-income-security/

[IMG]. Reduced to two words, it's a "GRAVY TRAIN"!
