All in all. They still make more money in Norway a person.
You're idea of low expectations and little drive to be succes is just BS.
    Norway 6, US 10. Period.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)_per_capita

And indeed. In the US they do not care about one and other.
It's a totally fixated on me first. Hence the underclass who get little help.
Hence people have little to no social or medical security.
People tend up to show up when sick in the US, or otherwise have no income.
No income, no money to pay the rent. Excellent way to have a virus spread.

    Quickly enough for what?

We are in the first 100 yards of a marathon! We have a President who just warned all 50 governors that our states all need to get their own medical supplies, viral protection, and everything else because the President had sold off much of the stockpiles and expertise to help protect America.

The Calvary is NOT on the way. We are On Our Own after Trump squandered $2 trillion to the billionaires!

    MAGA!

Where is the empirical data that says shutting down is effective? I haven't seen it yet. Talk is cheap, show us the data...

I live in rural America. People still need fuel, medical care, and a slew of other things. Farmers need feed and seed. The harvest doesn't get on store shelves without some interactions with people...

I'm not sure about your particular situation, plenty of country folks with no chickens or milk cows, but I assure you that if my friends decide to isolate for two months it will be a freaking cakewalk compared to me and my neighbors. May even make for one of the best Springs ever for them.

Do honesty believe the American people will accept living that way for months? The current overblown response is not sustainable...

    The enemy within.

Trump is clearly the best choice to rebuild the economy after this is all over, as it will be.

Of course not - spoiled, rich, phat pampered nation that we've become, and I'm certain I stated nothing about the overall practicality of how this plays out according to Trump's Deep State Staff (ugh, ha ha ha), who apparently informed him for his briefing today that he should advise that this new normal may last until July or August....

Neither you nor I are medical professionals. Should some of these predictions play out, that this virus literally causes a version of pneumonia which will potentially overload every ICU bed and ventilator in the country - is it then an overblown response?

we made that mistake under Bush jr, wanting Bush to have to deal with his own failed economy, that did not turn out well, time to fire Trump and hire someone new

if we postpone the spike of corona cases till after the flu season, many ventilators open up, and if we keep the curve low, we could do much better than if we had a huge influx of cases right now

we can't stop it, but we can try to deal with it the best we can

the market was already ready to pop, this was just the straw that broke the camels back, everyone knew the market was overvalued, but as long as the fed kept dumping money into it and keeping rates low, people ignored it

Trump told you the economy was great, if that were true the interest rates would have went back up and the fed would not of been dumping so many billions into it to keep it afloat

They may just be further down the road.

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/spain/

Trace the line on Spain tracking the time to double.

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/germany/

    Germany, similar story.

If Italy had it to over again, they would have hit the early measures much harder. Fortunately, we still have this opportunity.

    He whipped your asses.
    Of course.

RACISM! XENOPHOBIA! Coronavirus: EU to suspend all non-essential foreign arrivals to halt pandemic spread.

Oh, wait, it was only racist and xenophobic when our Amazing Trump did it, back when it was early enough to do some good.

Bernie... Trump and Biden I think suffer from dementia

that said, I will vote for Biden over Trump, Biden is a good person at least and will listen to the experts around him, rather then thinking he knows it all and is the expert at everything

None of them lied about this and likely killed people, like trump did.

It's no accident that republicans close to trump ended up in quarantine. They weren't taking this seriously because of trump.

How many trumpers have been careless, became infected, and infected other people, all because they were listening to trump and his clan of liars and deniers .

bet Trump wishes he was removed by the Senate now, so he could brag about how much better he would have handled it

No kidding. This is the first time trump has faced something he can't just lie about, and get away with it. There will be too many bodies. Even Mitch McConnell can't fix that.

Over 4400 confirmed cases and 81 deaths in the US now.

And the growth rate is still smaller than that of most other countries and especially in our larger population of 330 million Americans.

No matter the outcome this response is overblown. Every day of reduced productivity now is that much further behind we will be when the dust settles. All over a virus that only seriously effects a small fraction of the population...

I pray to God all of Trumps peeps here are correct and it turns out to be a relative nothing-burger with respect to overloading our ICUs. Because if it overloads our ICUs, then it is about something other than the absolute percentages of our population that I've seen some folks try to make their point about. There should maybe be a new party for these folks - the Darwins.

well our testing is slower too, so as testing increases, we will see more cases

and to be honest, I would not get tested unless seriously effected to where I needed to go to hospital, sure I am not the only one

maybe if they had the drive trough I would

It is almost a forgone conclusion now that we are going to get slammed by this. Governors are mostly in a panic to identify overflow resources for Corona patients.

We have only barely started testing. We are a weeks behind where we need to be to take effective preventative action. It may be too late to stop the wildfire now.
